in a majority of dnd type RPGs half races aren’t really uncommon. Love is love and an orc could be in love with a halfling to create an abomination. Why can’t we do that in wow?
a few examples would be half-elf, half-orc, half-drenei-orc ( garona proved it possible), half-dwarf. maybe even a half gnome?

Tomorrow Ion could announce the Developer team had rebelled against their corporate overlords and they’ll be removing scaling, time gating, the global cooldown changes, allowing players to pick whatever covenant, powers, soulbind or legendary effects they want, and enable flight.
I think the question to ask if it is likely, and I would argue, not to the extent that has been described in the OP. I imagine Half-Races would be the more common ones such as Half-Elves and Mok’Nathal and that’d probably be all we would see.
On the plus side, we can create literal abominations now.

Another example is Rexxar; half-orc and half-ogre. It’s been done before, but I don’t think they’ll ever do it for playable races. I feel like they would waste too many resources on the customization side of things. That’s not me saying customization is a bad thing, I just think there are better places where time and energy could be spent making the game more enjoyable.

But I sincerely doubt it.
I mean, they would really have to be scraping the bottom of the creative bucket to choose this over a new race given it would boil down to just a copy with a few…

I’d play a Gorc (Goblin Orc). Only if the Goblin was blended into the orc with a hand mid-calf…
Lore wise, they look like their parent race…lantresor for instance is an Orc…with no discernable difference, same for Arator a half Elf… so maybe an Elf with the Human racials? or an Orc with Draenei racials?
I rather it be told through customization rather than a whole race, at best.

I really doubt it, neat of a idea that is. Imagine the mess of integrating some Racials would be and the rarity of half-breeds is very very low as it is, so I doubt we’ll ever become one.

Half orc half ogre ftw.
Not so much lorewise, really. Rexxar is a Mok’Nathal like Lantresor and uses the Kul Tiran rig as part of a unique model. Kalecgos has a unique model to be a half-elf, but it looks mostly human, and the spirit of Alodi, the first Guardian (who was a half-elf) also looks human.
I think if the two races were to become playable they’d probably be made distinct somehow from their parent races, like Rexxar is.
