Guess we see it in 10, or 9.x where x last part till 10. Maiev runs the Azeroth NE. I don’t see her taking that cup of forgiveness cool aid.
I see her slapping it out of Tyrande’s hand and doing what she does best. Being a violent obsessive pita. I mean she comes to a demon world to punish DH’s killing demons. that’s like giving speed tickets at the indy 500 lol.
Maiev and Tyrande more or less reconciled with the events of Legion through BfA. Besides I think she is more concerned with trying to save Sira than battle Tyrande for leadership.
Elune was an “all powerful deity” that people had built up in there minds. Turns out she was a dopey cosmic entity that sacrificed her “chosen peoples” lives/souls to her sister on a whim.
Its like most things wow related, on paper its not that bad and has interesting story hooks, plottwists and reveals… in game they butcher it and hamfist it so much that it becomes incoherent nonsense that is better off ignored.
So in a franchise that made its mark by having the best lore, when you have to ignore it because it is so disjointed it kind of leads us to where we are now.
Like franchises like DOTA and LOL are doing a WAAAAY better job of hashing out their lore than what blizzard does right now, there is no passion or inspiration behind the game its just sell subs RIP.
They burned Teldrassil in the first place, and gave the reasoning that Sylvanas couldn’t kill Malfurion because Elune intervened, so she burned Teldrassil to kill hope.
They immediately retconned that in Shadowlands, where Sylvanas’s motivation was always to kill the Night Elves to feed souls to the Maw.
Elune was always stated by Blizzard to be the “one true diety” we knew of in the Warcraft Universe. They demoted her to sister of the Winter Queen, part of the Life Pantheon. AKA Around the same power as a Titan.
They outright have Elune imply she could have saved the Night Elves, but she purposely let them die to send their souls to her sister.
Tyrande’s Night Warrior empowerment led to nothing. She killed Nathanos. That was it. They had Elune deprive her of killing Sylvanas with no explanation.
Well that’s a shame I made this thread hoping that there was something I was missing to piece this together but seeing the replies on this thread there really isn’t anything to look forward to lol.
The cc we couldn’t break out of. If we could break out of that malfurion would be a on rapid weight loss plan (heads weigh a few pounds),
And for a limited time offer take out sylvanas also weakened . 2 for the price of one and no side bias. No need for war then. Both sides going so yeah we have to hate you as a front but deep down inside…
Thanks dude.
Slyvanas got pissed at someone saying that 'there’s always hope" and decided to burn teldrassil to prove them wrong. (Could also have been to just send souls to the maw to help the jailer).
Literally no one from the horde condemns or tries to stop this. Anduin is also like “oh but we shouldn’t start a war over this” like UM HELLO THAT IS WHAT YOU SHOULD START A WAR OVER. Elune also doesn’t intervene short of putting people to sleep so they aren’t awake while they’re burned alive.
Tyrande see’s all of this and is like “ok f this” and decides to do a ritual to become elunes wrath. it works, but it also slowly makes her become consumed by hatred/rage.
We hear the winter queen talk about ysera as “of her sister” and she really dislikes this, but alas she saves her anyway because she (ysera) is quite important it seems.
Tyrande yells a lot and just charges ahead intot he maw to try and find and kill sylvanas. She almost completely ignores the night elves she was wanting to save we find in the maw and just charges ahead.
Tyrande eventually does find sylvanas and is about to kill her, then elune yoinks the cord and goes “actually nvm”. You could argue this is tryande deep down “making the choice” for renewal not vengeance, but I think that’s generous at best and it’s just giving sylvanas a chance at redemption.
Trying to get elunes power out of tryande we stuff up and need the winter queens help, so she comes and intervenes and gets to talk to her sister.
Basically we find out elune let Teldrassily burn so the souls could go to ardenweald… and was somehow oblivious to the fact that the maw is taking all the souls from the shadowlands. Sure you could argue she’s not omnipotent which is fair, but I would also say surely she could have check what her sister was crying out for before she yeets her “favored children” into the afterlife. As someone said this paints her as naïve/oblivious at best and apathetic at worst.
They make up and tryande “chooses” renewal so her powers are lost for good and returns to her normal self.
So yea it’s a roller coaster, and I don’t think it was handled very well at all tbh. I think painting elune like a naïve/dumb goddess is not a good move while also painting it like those night elf souls were just going to be fuel for the winter queen in Ardenweald.
Sylvanas believes Elune intervened. It isn’t directly stated she DID intervene, but Sylvanas believed it enough that she didn’t attempt to kill Malfurion herself, and thus the attention turned to Teldrassil.
