Could Someone Explain TMB (That's My BiS) Loot System

I understand the general premise. People will list out what is their BiS in each equipment slot for each boss, etc. What I don’t understand is how it functions beyond that. I’ll just use the Rejuvenating Gem trinket that drops from Flamegore/Firemaw/Ebonroc in BWL as an example as I imagine it is BiS at least for that phase for all healing classes. The raid has X number of healers of various types and that trinket is their BiS. Do they then /roll for it? Is it subject to loot council?

I’ll explain how my TBC guild used it, and hopefully it’s the way TMB is supposed to be used.

Each person in the guild goes on to the website and lists the gear they want in a ranked order. So let’s say you want Rejuv Gem #1 more than anything. You’ll play that item as #1 in your rank.

Because people are deeply predictable, every other healer is probably putting that item as #1 as well.

Now, among those who ranked it as their #1 pick, the Loot Council will rank the order in which people acquire the item, and then that order will appear within the app.

If you have a corrupt LC, they’ll front load their boys into first pick on any contested loot slots, which is usually what happens.

If you were the only one placing an item at #1 and it drops, it should go to you.

It would be much easier to visually explain the whole system using an excel grid, but hopefully you can visualize it.

That helps tremendously! I believe I was just having an issue understanding how loot is ultimately distributed when there are multiple people vying for the same drop and if it functions precisely as you stated, then this definitely gives me pause. Glad I asked because the guild I joined seems fairly chill and like they’ll manage to actually accomplish things but they use a TMB system and a huge portion of them are friends and have been raiding together through a few different iterations of WoW for some time now. With that said, and while I do not wish to speak ill of them, I won’t claim to have much confidence that everything will play out fairly. Personally I am more of a fan of EPGP despite any shortcomings but thus far I haven’t seen the first guild recruiting that is both semi-hardcore and uses an EPGP loot system.

Thank you very much for the response. This helps me tremendously.

You should confirm with them their final method of distribution.

I’d probably ask “If an item is contested in a #1 pick for multiple people, how is the item then distributed?”
