The regular quests were for normal dungeons but gave credit for heroic and mythic versions.
Is there a point to having to grind out a bunch of heroic dungeons if you’ve already done 5 mythics? The quest is dropping +9 end chest gear and some hard to come by Neffin rep. So it contributes to turning heroics into a 4 pull joke by attracting a lot of extremely over geared players.

It’s meant for casuals to be able to get a piece of gear or some fragments from queued content. Nothing wrong with making Heroics matter again. It’s what people asked for.
If they changed the quest, it wouldn’t be Heroic dungeons anymore. It would have to be Mythic dungeons. And people can’t queue for those. This isn’t a specific quest for a specific dungeon anymore.
You’re complaining about doing easy content for a nice reward.

Why would you be doing heroics if you don’t need gear from heroic dungeons?

The weekly quest rewards a Champion piece of gear or Drake fragments for Champion gear.

I love it! I have really missed having a nice reward from queing for Heroic dungeons, and it really needed it as it was getting completly deserted, but they should probably up the item level from 359 to atleast 372 that is the minimun now from wq gear i think

No, like the quests used to work, they were for normal dungeons, but you would get credit for doing them as normal, heroic, or mythic.
I did the heroics last week. They’re a god awful exercise in chasing the tank. I’ll do it again this week while gritting my teeth if I have to, but it sure would be nice to get credit from the mythics I’m running instead.

I did cover this:
The problem is that it doesn’t work that way. It’s 5 Heroics. It’s not a specific item out of a specific dungeon that will drop on any difficulty. It’s literally meant to get participation into Heroics. I’m pretty sure there’s no way for them to say “Heroic and up.” But I could be wrong.
And if they did that, people wouldn’t really run the Heroics, then. They’d just run their M+ for the week and get credit, leaving Heroics with continued less participation and not covering what they wanted covered: a reason for people to run Heroic and also giving casuals a larger pool for participation.
I’d suggest to run with your guild or friends.

I’m nice enough to not subject guild members to such things.
And if the goal is getting people to do heroics in a meaningful way, they shouldn’t hang such a huge carrot on it as champion level gear.
That would probably be a good thing.
Don’t get me wrong, if we could do the whole dungeon in one pull I’d be fine with that. It’s just mind numbingly boring and a bad experience for new and learning players. And with that carrot, that’s going to be attracting players who want to do it in as few pulls as possible.
They have to. No one would do them otherwise.
New and learning players aren’t in Heroic dungeons. Let’s not use them as an excuse for something you personally just dislike.
The weekly is fine as it is and does the job it’s supposed to: get people into Heroics and get casuals some higher things over a longer period of time.
I like it, makes it relevant again and since gear is upgradable this quest will be relevant for a while.
Renown gains were the biggest appeal to me. The gear reward will just be a bonus. I will probably get that quest done later.
Still more time efficient to just keep farming m+. It’s not worth the headache.

Ya, considering it’s end chest for a +9, probably true.
Theres no bad reason (i can see) mythics couldnt count as heroic as a heroic or higher thing
Seems like it’s pretty fair mix of new/alts and uber over geared players. Usually a poor healer and a dps that have no idea what’s going on and don’t know to just keep up with the tank. Did a bunch on alts last week and every third or forth dungeon you’d end up with 2 or 3 players just leaving everyone behind and finishing the dungeon while the rest tried to figure out how to get back to the group.
Just do the heroics if you want it. You act like there hard lol. No reason to change. Let people who do heroics get something who cares or don’t do them. Bad as people whining about lfr when their in there trying to get tier. The forums are hilarious.

What is “meaningful”? You mean doing them a couple of times after leveling and then never again? They used to be end content for a lot of players. I think they finally realized that trivializing them meant that max level players who used to do heroic (or even normal) dungeons as their end content are the same players who are complaining there is nothing worth doing anymore and walking away from the game.
Why would it be good for the game to give you more rewards for doing nothing extra, while watching people who haven’t done dungeons walk away from the game?
This is a you thing. If you don’t want to do them, don’t do them. Don’t try to take them away from other players who may use them as a stepping stone in order to funnel more rewards to you.
They chose not to do it that way for a reason, a reason that has been discussed in this thread. /shrug
It’s beneath them. They want the rewards without doing the content, no doubt the same things they complain about other people for.

They gave those players an actual 5 man endgame with fantastic rewards. It was so successful they now have to bribe those folks to go back and do heroics with 415s.

Dragon customizations weren’t a terrible incentive, though most people seem to grind for those on normal, myself included. It’s wayyyy faster that way. However, I do think heroics needed a bit more than that. This quest should help a bit.
This quest is right up there with timewalking.
