I write software, dabble in hardware… We will never know but I wonder if it would be possible to just allocate more resources to the “server” handling Incendius…
Support. Could we possibly get a reply from Blizzard on this?
There’s a point when software optimization is the bottleneck. Throwing more hardware at it may not work.
Spin up some more VMs/Pods, Blizzard. You have the technology.
Or maybe they’re just lowering the capacity, to encourage that sweet, sweet transfer fees?
That would require them to actually care about classic, they haven’t replied to a classic post in weeks, as opposed to retail…so i doubt it. i mean chances are they laid off half the workforce anyways. we’ve only been screaming at them about incendius for months shrug.
It’s not like the tech can’t ya know…be used from at home…or somewhere not at the office…
You know they had a golden opportunity to probably rewrite some core aspects of Vanilla like larger server capacity.
Someone in their board meeting should have been like.…uhh…what if 12,000 people want to play on one server simultaneously? Kudos to Omar, but teaching a new dog old tricks isn’t an expression I know.
I could believe this. I’m tempted to transfer to Benediction right now tbh.
Add Whitemane to the list as well.
Benediction apparently had queues nearing 2 hours tonight. They’re next in line for the queue-mageddon facing incendius, whitemane, and faerlina.
Sounds like Layering is the fix…
You realise why, correct? It has an even faction balance much like Incendius but is much less populated, so you’d assume that it wouldn’t have queue times.
That’s a straight up bad thing. Makes the world too crowded and resources far more scarce than they should be.
afaik all servers are clound based now…
Which just means they run on someone else’s rack in their data center instead of your own. Biggest scam that somehow managed to take hold lmao.
I’m not sure what you’re trying to say, but you do realize that virtual machines still use hardware, right? It’s not like they just magically exist somewhere in cyber space. There’s still physical hardware powering them… lol
its possible. do they care enough to do it though
blizzard warned of this long ago. this is a player created problem, people knowingly transferred onto a high pop/full server. they wont do anything. who are you kidding.
Of course they could- think about it logically.
Can your computer today run programs better than it could 15 years ago?
Of course it can, because technology has greatly increased.
Everywhere, except apparently at Blizz HQ where they’re using the same hamsters from 2005.
