$60 for paid level boost, i would never in my life waste that much money on this… $30 seems alot more reasonable to me. maybe $40 but idk your pushing it at that point. $30 is the middle ground fair for everyone, for all parties. thats my honest opinion. well back to the grind i guess since i wont be buying no booster at $60. or maybe i just leave the game for another game. blizzard isnt the same company it grew up with, its far worse. i can see the greed here. my $60 is better spent on many other things then a over priced level boost.
Why even pay $30 for it?
I mean I have no beef with getting a level boost and have done it myself, but if you’re salty about the cost then just level. Its pretty fast.
When they originally announced the level boost, it was strictly part of the Warlords of Draenor expansion, and you could only ever get one of them. The intended use was for returning players to be able to boost a character to quickly play with their friends in new content, and the fact that existing players would get one was seen as a side bonus.
Instead, people came up to them at Blizzcon after the announcement and told them, point blank, that they would open a new WoW account for the sole purpose of buying Warlords and getting a boost, then transfer the character to their main account. Since that would involve a lot of busywork for Blizz as well as the player, they decided it would be easier to just make it a service that you could get any time.
But, that established a precedent: people were clearly willing to pay expansion price for a boost, so why sell it cheaper when they knew the market was there and, in fact, the market had told them it was there?
Its like 4-6 hours of minimum wage, if you enjoy leveling then level ingame, if you don’t go rake leaves for your neighbours for a couple hours
I support the high cost. Why? Boosted toon players end up in raids and such with 0 clue how to actually play the class/spec. I like that it’s a rarely used feature. Leveling is 1 way to sort of learn your class.
Level boosts were more worth it before they neutered leveling in shadowlands. The price did not adapt along with the game so now it feels like a joke. You can spend like $14 worth of gold (based on wow token) to have 2 dudes power level you from 10 to 70 in 2 hours. Why pay 60 for an official one?
And that’s why it’s so high. They don’t want it to be reasonable to everyone. They want it unreasonable to keep it as a serious decision and keep people leveling instead of skipping.
As with all pricing by any company the price is set as a function of supply and demand curves. Since supply is unlimited, it comes down to demand.
The price would be set at the top of the revenue curve. The way a revenue curve works is you raise the price until people not buying the product because it is too expensive reduces revenue faster than the higher price raises it.
That point is the peak of the revenue curve and that is where you set your price.
lol absolutely that, I got some boosts for my alts by doing this, why would I bother spending more, blizzard boost is just not worth it anymore
Low enough for some to think it’s worth it, even if begrudgingly. High enough to keep people from doing it frivolously. Which is a good middle. Affordable but not a microtransaction.
you can get to level 70 in like 3 hrs in MOP remix. regardless if remix is up or not however You could feed a family on $60 and money is in fact a resource, so its best not to waste said resource.
Sadly people are willing to pay for a boost…and as hard as it is to believe blizzard doesn’t actually want you to boost they want you to play their content so the high price is a discouragement.
But folks still pay it
Leveling new characters has been pretty easy in retail for a long time. Even before the level squish, I was able to get to 120 in like 25 hours played.
The pricing isn’t for what you feel is reasonable, it’s for whales. The whales will pay $60 many times over, everyone else will just play through and pay for a sub the entire time.
i hope and believe it is because, contrary to popular belief, WoW developers like having leveling as part of making a character.
Blizzard boost also comes with gear and several dragonflight reps at 20. Not just a plain ol level boost.
It all depends on what your time is worth to you. $60 is about 2 hour of work for me. Can I level to max in that time? Probably not, so it’s worth my money to save my time.
It isn’t what it is unless people were paying for it.
Also, Blizzard is not greedy as I’ve read some people have said (not you).
Remix is proof of that.
It made more sense back in the days of Warlords/Legion/BFA, when they set the price. Back when it boosted you to 90/100/110.
After the SL level squish, they didn’t update the pricing to reflect the changes to the game.
