How do I get corruption off my gear?
After X amount of steps in the legendary cloak questline, you’ll earn the privilege of having MOTHER cleanse items. Then it costs 5 corrupted mementos per item cleanse.
If you don’t do the cloak questline, you’ll never be able to cleanse items.
you can just use the gear too, corruption is not the end of the world when you only do trivial content
Having 100+ corruption might be the end of you, however.

if they dont even have the cloak then they are not doing much besides a few quests. would take a lot of corruption to make questing actually hard. if you have that much then just get the cloak imo
Where do I get the cloak questline from?
For Alliance I believe Magni starts the quest somewhere in Boralus. Here’s the wowhead article on that.
You need to unlock World Quests, then do the Nazjatar quest line until you have done the Magni part where you unlock your first Essence for your neck. After that’s done, you’ll get An Unwelcome Advisor automatically and you need to do that quest chain until you finish the Blackwing Depths scenario with Wrathion. It’s several hours of questing at a minimum.
technically…you do the whole thing.
After the gimme vision needed for story check off you get your mementos.
However…if you want to say lets not do the opening the doorway to the chamber bit that comes right after mother loses the cleanse option.
YOu have to open the door, do the fight in the chamber and then the cleanse option comes back.
At this point you are 99% done really. that last 1% is magni’s final run quest really.
varies by class. Casters even 20-40 and the eyeball coming down to zap you gets old fast. You break casts a lot to get out of the circle.
Now if like me you get that 60 + corruption gear that just fast lanes you into pain ville. I never planned on this for the S. priest. It was after the 6th drop at 60+ corruption I said fine…I will get the damn cloak to unlock cleansing.
I really just wanted some nice 410/420 gear to make WQ’s go smoother. I wasn’t even looking for 445+ dominance.
Now melee this can be a blow off. Even n’zoths hitman (40+…right?) can be more annoyance than threat really.
BM hunter… I can corrupt for days. Most times its just keep up healz on the pet as I move all over.
