Serious question - why does the corruption spell have a cast time in the demonology spec?
Does anyone seriously even try to cast this spell as demo in their dps rotation?
No, you do not use corruption as Demo.
Exactly and the reason is due to the cast time, but if this was instant cast then it’d be used in rotations. I hope blizzard changes it to instant cast one day since it’s useless as it currently stands.
No, Corruption is a dead spell for both Demo and Destro, and Blizz seem in no hurry to change that.
This is all by design, and tons of abilities like this exist for other classes.
Shaman have Primal strike (I think that’s what it’s called)
Druids have [every off-form spell/ability except regrowth and battle rez]
Warriors have Shield Slam for DPS, and Slam for tanks
Mages have Fireball if not Fire Spec
and so on.
Players complained that they were missing all of those flavor abilities so here we are.
It has a cast time for Destruction and Demonology, part of an “unpruning” effort for Shadowlands. There’s a decent anima power for Corruption in Torghast, but you wouldn’t bother using it in any other situation.
My girlfriend started playing demo acouple weeks ago and uses the spell. I tell her not to but im “no fun.”
I’d rather they didn’t.
I play demo to stay away from dots
Just making it instant wouldn’t suddenly validate it as a good spell for demo. It would simply become something to tap on the move, which would be a very lazy way to shoehorn something into a rotation.
As it currently stands, it should just be removed from the spellbook when you swap to Demonology and gain Hand of Gul’dan, in the same way that you get Incinerate and Immolate in place of Shadow Bolt and Corruption as destro. The current iteration is potentially confusing and wholly unnecessary for new demonology players to have in their spellbook, even if the cast time weren’t attached.
And yet they put Doom smack center of the Demo talent tree, how weird is that?!
Corruption would be more fun than Doom at the very least, especially if they gave it things like Nightfall procs. Or they could give it a small amount of damage on cast so it could serve as a movement filler.
she cute?
And? Doom is as dead of a talent as corruption.
It only exists as a callback to demo of the past.
Now if they swapped out Doom for the Doom Brand tier set we’d be talking. But as it stands, doom has no reason to exist. It’s damage is low, damage profile is terrible, and nobody wants to manage dots as demo.
She is infact cute.
…er, yeah, that was kind of my point.
Hard to tell the tone of text, I misunderstood
tell her i said, “… how YOU doin’?!”
She says “Hi. Wanna do keys with me i need a trinket bad.”
We wanted flavor, but not like this.
There’s no reason that corruption can’t be given syngergy as a basespell alongside the main tree. Or even utility, where it prolonging curses becomes baseline.
Warlock is currently the only class where each spec plays like an entirely different class. Every other class has distinct common themes that are shared amongst its specs. A warlock shares demons and utility and there are a whopping 2-4 talent choices that enhances each specs’ shared spells.
Warlock tree and identity is in shambles compared to other classes. As a result, we are grossly overtuned to lazily make do.
All three shaman specs feel and play differently. While the themes carry through, the feel is wildly different.
The same can be said for Caster druid vs Melee druid
Paladin
Ranged hunter vs melee hunter
Priest flavors
Monks
While I do agree that the various warlock trees can feel at odds within themselves, it’s no worse than Feral or Arms right now (except that it’s the whole class, and not just 1 spec).
