Why not allow it to be instant? have modifications? anything at all?

Because while corruption is available as a baseline spell, it is focused to be in the Affliction playstyle.
Use it low levels (10), but take off your Demo / Destrobars once you choose their specs unless needed for PvP.
Last things warlocks need is another spell to use anyway.
should be removed off destro then and give us fel flame again

how is this an actual thought you have when it is left in our baseline spells
they should remove it and replace it with something else
Because I’m not dim enough to believe that every spell in the baseline kit needs to be used, yet alone at max level.
If you really want to use it, you’ll just be a sub-par Warlock. I already expect this is the case 
give examples of 3 spells that aren’t used baseline in other specs
For Dragonflight; Rune Strike, Primal Strike, Corruption, Shield Slam, Shield Block, Slam, Frost Bolt, Fire Blast, Arcane Explosion, etc…
All abilities given baseline before level 10 which may not be rotationally used for other specs.

Specifically Mage being comparable to Warlock, having Frost Bolt, Fireblast, Arcane Explosion in their base kit is a simple example that even you should understand.
frost bolt is a single target slow with a use, fireblast is an instant cast that can be used in pvp for all sorts of aspects and arcane explosion is arguably usable to reveal stealth among other things
corruption has no place in the kit where it is actually usable for some sort of gain
Dot on stealth capable classes while feared. Destro can do this while juked out of fire.
As it’s a rotational ability for Affliction alone, you will not see enhancements in the Class tree to lower Corruption’s cast time.
