I was toying around with 65 corruption level last night and didn’t find it as dreadful as I anticipated. Perhaps it’s because the increased damage also increases our suitability as a warlock. So I’m curious - what corruption level are you guys typically keeping around?
I’ve been trying to keep between 25 (for Heart of Darkness traits) and 40. I find that even if you have to stand in the eyeball zone a little each tick doesn’t hit too hard, but if the Thing from Beyond catches you it’s a sizable chunk of damage. That said, it doesn’t spawn too frequently so maybe the extra Corruption buffs make up for it.
39 for progression. if we run into a hard damage check then maybe try and push it but deaths to TFB or directly because of TFB are just not worth outside of farm IMO
I have a piece that puts me over 60 that I love (I love the op buff and the corrupted appearance change) but after I put it on my gear proceeds to inevitably murder me at the most inconvenient moments thereafter. Good on you if you are not getting that down side.
I prefer to stay 39 or less as the thing from beyond is a real pain and can actually kill you if you get caught out. It can be stunned and cc’ed if that’s worth anything but otherwise it isn’t worth it imo.
Did you guys notice yesterday that the Vision of Demise is hurting SUBSTANTIALLY more as of yesterday?! The image hit me for 612k! Fortunately I was in Demonology so Soul Link saved me, but Christ! I can’t run as high corruption anymore because that beast is just nuking the hell out ofme!
as in your circle hit you for 612k? or the thing from beyond?
how much corruption were you running? ive never seen either really hit that hard without breaking like 60 which is just an awful idea
The Thing from Beyond hit me for 612k lol. I was running 55 corruption after resistances.
55 is high, i know the soft cap for progression is like 39.
0-24, if you don’t plan on running heart of darkness. 39 or lower if you plan to do Mythic+ or raid at all. 40-60 is doable in raids against some bosses, but is brutal against bosses that do raid-wide aoe damage or targeted damage such as Xanesh because Thing From Beyond will constantly proc. 40-79 is manageable in open world content, but gets trickier as the corruption goes up. Above 80 gets brutal. At 459 ilvl, 101 total corruption killed me multiple times against the target dummies.
Side note: the red tint appearance change at 80+ total corruption is wicked looking and I hope Blizz comes out with a toy for that look later on.
that still seems high as far as a hit, but gotdayum you got smacked 
I’m on 75 total corruption when I got the ring w/ +15 void ritual from doing mythic+. I got a bad feeling its way more difficult
