Getting a corrupted item “upgrade” on WQ rewards for alts trying to build Ilvls is more of a FU than an upgrade.

Then work on your cloak and equip one of the essences that give you 10+ corruption resistance

Sell it and move on. If your toon doesn’t have the cloak, then they’re probably not doing content high enough that requires ilvl above 400

Sure…those ring rewards aren’t that common, and no cloak yet for that toon. i would have rather had the basic ring.

Corrupted gear is one of, if not the worst things ever put in the game. Because pieces of level 335 gear needed 75 corruption.
When Blizz built 8.3 they completely ignored the fact that a lot of players have no interest in doing a 2+ hour quest to get a cloak on each of their alts. As for cleansing the gear, that is an equally horrible joke.
In the many years I have played this game I have never seriously considered a break until 8.3 and how bad it is.

Look, we’re all offering the OP good and rational points (and if I saw the thread first I might have been the one saying them), but we should also just take a step back and acknowledge that people feel what they feel. Whether or not its really appropriate, it was clearly a down moment rather than an up moment for him and nothing we say is going to go back and change that.

1 Heroic dungeon can give you up to 4 pieces of loot. Emissaries are up that give loot. World quests drop loot. I refuse to believe that you cannot get a single piece of uncorrupted loot, especially if your concern is upgrading your ilvl and not secondary stats.
Wish loot emissaries were more common, it seems like we get 1 every 10 days at best.
Edit: And now another day with an AP emissary
That’s not the point, frankly. The point is something that was supposed to be an upgrade wasn’t. On that sub 400 ilvl character, an uncorrupted 415 ring could have made a decent upgrade. A corrupted ring, FOR THAT CHARACTER, is worthless.

Corruption is a punishment for those with alts. Spread the world.
OP: Makes a legit point that essentially boils down to this entire system being crap.

Kinda hard to get to that ilvl and do that content if you keep selling all your upgrades.
If your gonna get upset over steppingstone gear than just quit now, BFA only gets worse.
I refuse to believe every single piece of upgraded loot you get is corrupted.

Corruption is designed to force players into the hamster wheel even on your alts. It is called fear of missing out while an “upgrade” sits in your bag.
A very insidious system used to twist the arm of players to conform to certain behavior standards and narrow, tunnel vision playstyle.
It also robs players of player agency and what they want to accomplish in a play session on mains or alts.
Corruption system is truly an anti MMORPG system by all definitive measures IMVHO.

You’re being a little hyperbolic. Anything under 40 corruption is pretty easy to deal with. Especially if all you’re doing is heroics and WQs.

I find it funnier they’re worried about a 415 ring but apparently refuse to get a free 470 cloak (plus like 2 440 pieces)
