I'm working on the balance of power quest line, and I'm gathering corrupted essence in Emerald Nightmare. I managed to get 24/30 my first go on Normal but on my second run on heroic I got none. Do they only drop once no matter the difficulty? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm fairly new to raiding. Thanks
Yes, only once per boss, regardless of difficulty.
The same applies to the Nighthold quest items you'll have to collect next.

Is the drop chance better on harder difficulties, or just get it done on normal for ease?
Edit: Just ran normal on a toon and got 21 / 30.

As somrone said the items only drop once within the weekly lockout regardless of difficulty.
You will also be tasked with collecting items from all the base mythic dungeons and you will need exalted with the nightbourne rep.
And after you do all that grinding out need some items from the nighthold raid itself. I don't remember for sure but i believe some follower missions where needed as well.
