I remember when this happened way back in 2005, when i was on my priest, and it was only the paladins and priests that could cure disease off the other players! Ironforge was strewn with skeletons of other players while the disease spread and turned them into ghouls!
Then there was a group of them in Westfall and i’d be Cure Disease-ing them at a distance and getting angry QQing whispers from them asking me why i was dispelling their contagion, to which i replied, “because you were diseased!” But i had to be cautious, as if they got too close, they could corpse explode and infect me!
It was both fun, and dangerous to see the world turn apocalyptic!
Will this happen in Classic?

Maybe they’ll recreate the bug for authenticity’s sake, but I wouldn’t hold your breath.
One can only hope. Fun fact, the CDC investigated the response in WOW from that artificial plague to gauge how people would react under similar cicumstances in the real world.

Just make it a limited time yearly event around the anniversary of the bug so others can enjoy it not just those playing before it gets removed

Last I heard in one of their podcast (actually a streamer interview with a couple of devs), the short answer is they were looking at it but probably not. This was a few weeks before launch though so take that with a grain of salt.

This is actually a very interesting idea. I like it. Was there for the original outbreak, was wild!

As someone who didn’t play WoW back in 2005, but has heard the stories, that could be interesting. I’m already feeling a little masochistic playing WoW classic, having another Corrupted Blood-esque incident would surely spice up my experience all the more.
They can but I think corpses disappear once you make a new corpse
Bro, I might be wrong but for me this was THE first world event (albeit unintentional) I experienced (or at keast remember). It was very wild. It was also interesting in seeing resoonses. My wife and I joined a group of people in a “quarantine” zone trying heal players, whilecwe watched other people running players down to infect them, incl peeps in our little mash unit. Hahaha.
Edit pardon typo, too lazy to fix tonight heh

I envy you and your incredible experience, my friend.
I wonder how they could do this in a way that wouldn’t hinder others wanting to do quests and not participate? Perhaps a mini-holiday event that lasts just the one day?
People would complain. I didn’t play in 2005 but in 2008 when they did a controlled event of less magnitude before WoTLK was released, people lost it. (I enjoyed it myself) The forums were full of people upset that is interfered with their normal gameplay. Also, if they brought corrupted blood back, the effect wouldn’t be a genuine response as it was in September 2005. People would know what was going on and the non complainers would just enjoy it. Can’t get the event back, it’s one of those “had to have been there” things.
