Corridor Creeper Ambient Audio

Edit2: To quote Jamein (whom provided the IDs for the chain sounds via WoWhead); “Now it just makes a soft slapping noise, which I think … is probably worse”

Here are updated macros:

Ambient Noise| /run MuteSoundFile(3747229); MuteSoundFile(3747231); MuteSoundFile(3747239)

Chains Part 1| /run MuteSoundFile(3745500); MuteSoundFile(3745504); MuteSoundFile(3745514); MuteSoundFile(3745520); MuteSoundFile(3745490); MuteSoundFile(3745492); MuteSoundFile(3745494); MuteSoundFile(3745496); MuteSoundFile(3745498)

Chains Part 2| /run MuteSoundFile(3745508); MuteSoundFile(3745510); MuteSoundFile(3745516); MuteSoundFile(3745506); MuteSoundFile(3745514); MuteSoundFile(3745518); MuteSoundFile(3745502)

Unfortunately there’s not a way to force them to always be muted when relaunching the client (that I can find) short of maybe an addon.

Hope these help!

Edit1: Thankfully, someone on WoWhead found these so they could also be used to silence them. I ran this once and logged out and back in, no more annoying background noise. They also have the files for the chains/clanging but I can live with that lol

/run MuteSoundFile(3747229)
/run MuteSoundFile(3747231)
/run MuteSoundFile(3747239)

Is it just me or is the ambient ‘maw’ noise while riding the mount a bit much? I can handle the clanking of the mount but the ambient effect is almost too much to handle. I guess if you only ride it in the Maw it’s fine but anywhere else it’s mental torture (perhaps by design lol)

I wish it was like similar mounts, with persistent audio, where it was only on/bad periodically. Maybe while idling too long (like the maw calling it back).

Minor grievance is all, I guess I just wish at the least it was less loud. /shrug

Maw noise? I only hear the clanking.

Yeah. I was excited for a second when you said that cause I have ambient audio enabled so I disabled it to see if that fixed it but nope. It’s actually tied to sound effects lol. Maybe you just have a lower volume or have tuned it out but it’s definitely there. Try mounting it out of the Maw or maybe disabling music. Maybe that’s masking it, idk I have music disabled though but this might be enough to make me turn it back on lol

My ambient volume is at about 30%.

Try listening to the darkmoon dirigible mount, all that time grinding it to detest the travel sound…guess what silent in the air lol nothing

Is there a literal solitary thing modern players won’t complain about

I haven’t played with sound for years.

Honestly, I think that ambience sound should be a permanent inflicted curse on us until we “cleanse” it. A curse that stays with us every time we escape the Maw and causes us to receive a debuff.

Why shouldn’t the howling screech and haunting cries of the Maw torture us everywhere we go after we’ve been “touched” by it…or so the characters in the lore keep saying…

Naw, wrath babies 2.0 tbh

Literally have been playing as long (if not longer) than both of you lol. Rev, at least you have the mount, Shiningrain doesn’t even have it yet lol. It was a mild irritant. Y’all probably either A) Don’t even play with audio on or B) Drown it out with other sounds. It’s a really grating noise though, especially if you’re on it 90% of the time. For now I’m just not using it unless I’m in the maw.

Appreciate the toxic response though lol :joy:

Makes sense to me lol, that’s the best I could figure why it’d be intentional, as a reminder of the ‘unenjoyable’ time there, as it’s not supposed to be a place of comfort lol

A lot of people I know haven’t. I still like to heard sound effects (not so much music) but I play at like 11% volume lol.

Congratulation on slogging through a mini game for days! now that youve done that maybe you’ll complete your first keystone over a 9! Keep at it!

I very much hear curclank curclank curclank on loop while on the mount.

Appreciate the baby post tho.

Wow, i hadn’t even noticed, but you’re right. It’s not just the clanking. Spent so much time in torghast, I went ear-blind.

I ride mine all the time but haven’t noticed it, tbh.

edit: Ok, just got on and intentionally listened for it, but no it doesn’t bother me.

omg the Corridor Creeper is so freakin loud. Its actually crazy how loud it is.

I feel that lol

My game volume is at 30% I barely hear the mount’s sounds.

It’s took me a bit to figure out what I was hearing, and until I did, I thought it was kind of annoying. But once I realized it was the mount, it just made it more creepy to me. Sort of fitting, imo. (But still somewhat annoying.)

Good headphones make a world of difference, especially compared to open speaker (if you do that)

My game master volume is at 11% with system (PC) volume at 42%.

Important to note, it’s not the mount sounds itself that are the problem but the ambient noise coming from it, even (and especially) when you’re not moving.

These are the sounds I’m referring to, jam this in a macro and hit it or even listen to them one at a time:

/run PlaySoundFile(3747229)
/run PlaySoundFile(3747231)
/run PlaySoundFile(3747239)

Thankfully, someone on WoWhead found these audio files so they could also be used to silence them. I ran this once and logged out and back in, no more annoying background noise. They also have the files for the chains/clanging but I can live with that lol
