Copy or export Combat Log

Hello,

Does anyone know of a way to copy or export Combat Log data?

I’ve been interested in being able see my casting rotation and its resulting damage in a timeline format. I’m not any kind of a programmer but I was able to create a spreadsheet in Excel which successfully shows what I’m after. The limiting factor now is being able to copy/export the needed amount of data from the Combat Log.

The only addon I’ve found which enables you to capture Combat Log data is BasicChatMods (BCM).* The problem however, is that I’ve never been able to acquire more than 300 lines of the Combat Log using this method.

BCM has a “History” setting which states:

Choose how many lines of chat history your chat frames remember.

This is followed by a slider which can be increased to a maximum of 2500. However, despite having this setting enabled, the most lines I’ve ever successfully moved to my clipboard is 300. That has caused me to wonder if I’m using the addon incorrectly or if there is some Blizzard setting or other addon causing a conflict.**

One other curiosity is that each time I login, I get the following notice (just after “Guild Message of the Day”):

BasicChatMods:
Chat being logged to LogsWoWChatLog.txt

That file seems to be just what I’m after but despite searching my hard drive a few times, I’ve never located a file by that name.

So in summary, I’d be grateful if someone:
knows of a method or utility to obtain Combat Log data directly from a game file
can help me locate the LogsWoWChatLog.txt file if it exists and if it contains what I’m after
can help me get past this barrier of 300 lines of copyable Combat Log when using BCM
knows of another addon which enables you to obtain multiple lines of Combat Log

Thanks

PS I’m happy to share the Excel file I mentioned with anyone who might be interested.

*With BCM installed, Shift-clicking the Combat Log tab brings up a window in which you can use [Ctrl+a] followed by [Ctrl+c] to copy the content—including timestamps accurate to seconds—to your clipboard.

**I’ve posted a couple of questions in the past regarding this issue on the BCM forum but have never obtained a solution.

Why not just use simcraft?

www (dot) warcraftlogs (dot) com/
May be beneficial.
Download their program, run it in the back ground, login game and do /combatlog.
Everything will be uploaded to their site in a fairly detailed manner.

Wouldn’t it be easier to just log a dummy and upload to WCL?

If you just open it up in Notepad++ it’ll show all your events but Idk about any easy ways of exporting to csv

You can give this a shot but I can’t vouch for it being up to date.

If you know javascript, CombatLogParser from the WowAnalyzer project on github is probably going to be a good start if you want to analyze locally instead of using warcraftlogs.

Does simcraft display a line-by-line record from your Combat Log?

Under Warcraft install folder/retail/ Logs is where the CombatLog.txt should be located
