All language is fiction, every sentence flung into the ether decipherable only by what human eyes fall upon it and - if not, or - minds brook our same delusions, share in the conscious curse, and in our absence be but static.
The cultural zeitgeist has decided it’s a word, so it is.
Verily thou hast the right of it.
That’s how words are created.
It’s a slang term. And words change over time. Every language is made up.
It’s a made up word that everyone (forums/youtube/twitch) who deals with wow knows. It’s part of the wow lexicon.
Copium bothers you that much? It’s just a stupid slang word.
I mean that’s just how language works, people just make things up and when enough people use a word then it becomes legit. what about all the player names using ß as a B substitute when it’s really a S sound?
Imagine something like this bugging you. You must have an empty life.
OP you must really like the new one “hopium” that has been floating around.
Welcome to Whose Language is it Anyway, where the words are made up and the points don’t matter!
Do they know what they mean when they say it? Do other people derive a meaning from hearing it? Are those meanings about the same? Yes. Yes. And yes. Conclusion: It’s a word.
Tell me are you people seriously going to use the word copium or hopium in a college entrance exam or job resume or News paper article?
I’m not trying to get into college.
I have a job.
It’s not for the news paper.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
Hello, I see you posted a thread about being on hopium over copium. I’m sorry to hear that fun words bother you! I personally believe that maybe you should stop mopium over the hopium that copium isn’t a word!
Thanks for your post and have a great day!
You can lie to yourself all you like but in all honesty I highly doubt you’ll use these made up terms in a professional manner or in a professional setting.
Hello, I see you replied to the thread. Apparently you have never had a job that had an office email system!
Thanks for your post and have a great day!
“Funderful” aint a real word either. But I still grabble its kimbe when I huszik.
There’s a lot of curse words I don’t use in a professional manner or setting but it doesn’t mean I don’t use 'em else where.
What difference does it make?
