Maybe Wowhead didn’t do the best job of presenting it/showing everything that could be done with it, and/or it’s been worked on since that preview to do more than was shown there.

I use individual addons and the base UI bars. That way, if something isn’t updated, my entire UI isn’t broken, just one addon.

Same. I learned that the hard way a few minutes before raid time some years back.
