I understand what they were trying to do but to have to struggle to get past 50 with cooking skill sucks. I wish they left the old way intact somewhat so that with what recipes you do have would level you up. Sheesh what a challenge just to fish up or find rare recipes.

Dont think i had problems leveling my cooking
I haven’t really bothered with professions much. WAAAY too annoying to level with all the recipes being either super rare or behind renown for 50-100. Or timegated with Sparks and now Barter Bricks for some professions.
Not worth the effort imo

You basically get a free recipe from the Tuskar that will get you from 50 - 75. Or you can buy one from the AH. Then it’s just cooking stuff to learn more recipes. How are you struggling?
They thought the current profession design would be inspirational, that all casuals would aspire to do professions exclusively as their gameplay. They actually told us that professions were going to be the pillar of gameplay for casuals. Of course, if the overwhelming majority of players had attempted to min max their professions the way it was intended, there would have been zero profit. So maybe that was the goal.

With 10.1 and beyond, cooking is pointless and worthless. They didn’t add anything to compensate for the stat increases from season 2 and beyond. Just like fishing, it feels like it was abandoned for the rest of the expansion.

I have been all over Iskarra and have not recieved a free recipe :o I will go and check again thank you for this info. It is just none of the recipes that I have atm is not leveling past 50.

If you have Renown 11 with the Iskaaar Tuskarr, complete the 
Encroaching Heat quest in The Waking Shores to get one of the recipes used below.
If you don’t have high enough renown, you have to buy one of these four recipes from the Auction House:
Recipe: Salt-Baked Fishcake - 
Salt-Baked Fishcake (Mastery)- Recipe: Timely Demise -
Timely Demise(Haste) - Recipe: Filet of Fangs -
Filet of Fangs (Critical Strike) - Recipe: Seamoth Surprise -
Seamoth Surprise (Versatility)
The quest I linked above is actually in waking shores zone, but it requires iskara rep 11.
