Convoluted crafting system

I don’t play much nowadays thanks to working but I have been playing since this expansion came out, and yet I have STILL to figure out crafting.

I’m not saying complexity is bad, I’m saying it is presented in such a bad way that you can’t tell what the heck is going on. Everything from the “crafting gear” to how it interacts in the world, to it being stuck in my hand after skinning making me “shoot” a knife as a hunter, to a crazy amount of materials that make it just impossible for the average joe to figure out unless you go look up a ton of guides and spend 10 hours on it.

It was honestly one of the things I was excited about going into Dragonflight, mainly cause I play casually nowadays, but forget it, this seems more obscure than just playing the game. What’s even the point now.

I’m just saying, I don’t like the crafting system at all.

Convoluted is the nice way of saying its time gated and sucks

While I do agree it looks pretty complex, it really isn’t. Just look thru what each branch is designed to do, pick which appeals to you the most and go down that branch until you reach your goal. I wanted to focus upon Phials for alchemy, so I started with phial mastery. It only looks confusing because we are use to straight forward crafting skills.

1-50 is pretty much the same system as before, but if you want to level beyond that you’d need to invest knowledge points.

It’s not difficult, but very annoying.

Its not convoluted just timed gated without a reset .

I went into it totally blind and made mistakes. I REALLY wish there was a one-time reset we could do.

I have dubbed my draenei shaman “Mrs. Nesbitt” for how goofy he looks in his herb-gathering gear.

Since the system was / is a bit difficult to wrap your head around, it would have been nice to offer some sort of limited time knowledge point refund.

Anyone reading this thread before doing any crafting make sure you read every single perk in every single node. There is no going back once you push apply.

Blizzard: Let’s get rid of the “systems” players hate so much and just sneak them into professions. I mean professions are the original “system” anyway. They’ll never know.

Ion: It’s GENIUS! Bolt that crap on now!

Asking WoW players to read? Ridiculous.

Blizzard: And let’s give their professions a chance to randomly kill them!

Yeah, because their irl job doesn’t work them to death enough.
Let’s let their fantasy job “finish the job”.

Can someone tell me what the hell “inspiration” does? I’ve read what it says in the UI and still can’t fathom it.

From my understanding, it’s basically your chance for a critical craft and and can be the critical boost to improve your craft from silver to gold, for example.

So wait. What does that mean? It just increases proc on upping the ilvl?

They’ll be so geared from Shadowlands that they can solo all the world rares on day one, but what we really want to make them think twice about is that saxifrage that might blow them clear off the top of a mountain!

Potentially! I’ve been playing an alchemist, so it’s a bit different for me. But basically, on the quality bar progress, inspiration would boost it past the expected quality listed before the craft. So I imagine if your blacksmithing or whichever profession lists it as a certain quality before, a proc of inspiration would bump it higher.

I am a solo player, I do not belong to other guilds. I like alchemy because I need that Healing Stuff. But I think putting all that work into the item that gives the item a 30 sec. Use, is pretty ridiculous myself. And after looking thru a few other mixes at the alchemy table the only thing I see that is useful to me is that Healing potion.

From my experience, things like the Potion of Elemental Chaos and Phial of Glacial Might are selling really well on my server and are really good for pushing M+ and raid content. If you’re lucky, you could get those through experimentation and make a lot of gold selling them, even if you don’t use them.
