is the healing part of Convoke Spirits a smart heal and prioritizes injured allies to non injured or is it just randomly throwing out its Hots to whoever is in range? Im assuming just random but not positive …new Resto druid
In my experience, it’s pretty random but generally good at bringing a party of 5 from 40% to 100% in the window it casts.
Its random. If you’re using it as an omg we gunna wipe button then best pray too rnjebus
Does anyone know if you need to target party members to prioritize its healing? Or does it not matter who you target?
pretty sure my fellow druids are correct in stating that it’s random. you can only really “aim” or control the spells used by how close in proximity you are to mobs (as it alters some of the spells cast).
i’ve used convoke since SL S1, and I can vouch for it being an effective heal in a pinch, but you’ll want to blanket your team with some hots first. if used in your resto form, the main rng spell you want will be the flourish at the end. that’s really what makes it a great “heal” imo
also, if you want to increase the effectiveness of the spell, use it in conjunction with a nature’s swiftness - as that’ll power up the regrowth (without consuming it) ![]()
Thats not random. Random would mean you have a better chance of casting rejuv on the same party member 4 times than bring your entire party to full health.
Using convoke even once would prove that it’s not completely random which it’s why it’s effective. If it was random you would never see it bring your party to full health because it would be busy spamming Regrowth/Rejuvenation on full HP targets.
It is random in which spells it casts, like it doesn’t always cast flourish or wild growth. But even at completely random, it casts 12 spells, so odds are it’ll put something on everyone in the party, but I’ve also seen it skip people so not everyone in the party gets something. That’s why sometimes I follow up with a flourish or SM or even WG to help out more.
It can ‘influenced’ by what form you are in. In my experience, it seems to cast about 66%-75% of spells based on what form you are in. So if no form, mostly heals. if Bear, lots of thrash, maul, IF, mangles and swipes.
but with 8-9 spells being cast on 4-5 targets as resto, odds are most will get at least one. But it also depends on what is cast. Wild growth is one cast, but hits all 5.
Convoke is not a complete get out of jail free card as resto. It just more times than not is very helpful, but I find the more helpful part to be the fact it casts while moving. This is massive for healing during mechanics.
“A bit of discussion about this ability–one dilemma with it is that while it actually chooses abilities somewhat smartly, it can’t claim to do so perfectly smartly. So the tooltip doesn’t promise to always choose the optimal ability, but in reality it does much better than random chance. Some things that were true in prior iterations, and still true now:
–Spells that apply a DoT or HoT are favored on targets that don’t already have it, and generally won’t reapply to targets that do (some exception for Wild Growth).
–It won’t aggro new creatures that aren’t in combat
–It won’t break CC
–Heals will be more favored relative to other spells if there are lower-HP targets
–Thrash is used more often in Bear Form than in Cat Form”
Literal quote from Blizzard bro. They literally say its not random ands tries to smart heal.
Thanks for the clarification.
I can say as an “oh snap” button for heals it will seem to target the lowest health person with more spells no matter who it is cast on. I just keep it in a easy to push spot and have no target for it I enjoy the one minute cooldown boost to my healing.
