Convincing Friends to Play

What is the best way to convince my friends to play, even though they never played WoW before? Not even Retail.

Show them videos. Just don’t try to shove it down their throats. That causes resistance and they won’t want to play. Talk about some of the awesome experiences you’ve had. Talk about how good the classes are. Talk about the raids and fighting dragons and the undead.

Gift them some sub months.

well, I’ve only played BFA… I was “too late for the party”. Wish I had started played before though. =/
I cant afford to gift them subs either

Honestly, the best way to get other people to play is to give a few basics and leave it be. Talking about wow to much will just make you look like a game addict. That may turn people off.

What type of games do they enjoy? If they typically play FPS then maybe talk about how good the pvp is in wow. If they are more into story and the fantasy aspect then talk about that.

Like the other posters have mentioned, don’t get too crazy when talking about it. Constantly talking about it can be off putting.

Well, nowadays they mostly play League of Legends, I dont.
But I used to play other games with them: Sea of Thieves, Archeage, PUBG, Diablo 3

Was about to say, bribe 'em.

:cocktail:

People tend to try things more often when they’re free.

Ask them if they want to play a fun online game with you. They’re your friends, right?

Let them know wow is free to level 20. Tell them they can try it and not pay anything. They will be hooked!

Just tell them how you feel about it, and your experiences. They have to like it for themselves or they won’t stick with it. Try to give them a good first impression.

IMO best part of WoW is playing with friends. Offer to group with them, roll a new toon and level with them. Grouping with friends make the game 1000x more fun.

is it gonna have a free trial in Classic too? I thought this was only for BFA

No, I mean 1-20 in retail. Looking at it through the eyes of a new player who has never seen the world.

None of my friends want to play it :frowning: A few of them are still playing retail, but they do not want to give up their pretty pixels and virtual achievements. I’ve been trying to lure them away to other games for years, but they never bite. I guess I’ll just have to make some new friends. Hopefully the community is amicable

Classic WoW is designed so that you will organically make new friends while playing.

I’ll definitely make new friends on the server, but I really wanted to play with my irl friends though…

tell them that Classic WoW has lots of “moments”, just like fortnite does
I don’t know why blizzard hasn’t thought of that pitch yet; “moments” don’t happen nearly as often in BfA

like i can recall one from a pserver on a warrior in WSG where I was trying to chase down an FC and I couldn’t run fast enough and he was almost dead while allies were around me so I potshotted him(which you can’t do in BfA), which killed the guy
though I don’t remember if I returned the flag afterwards

Yea I can try to make they picture something like that… maybe try to compare to when I played Archeage or Ragnarok with them… I guess
