You were already given an entire list of why it is better.
- Changing your char name, transferring, etc makes you start over with post count, trust level, etc. Other Blizzard forums don’t have this issue because they use Btags.
- Flags and likes are per character, not Btag (this is not how the rest of the forums work) and it allows people to abuse the reporting system. Yes, some get penalized, but it is rare. Abuse of reports is common.
- People sock puppeting to self promote, to argue with themselves, cause drama, etc.
- People switching alts to circumvent the Ignore features.
- Posting char name-server means people can message you in game without your permission, and add you a friend on that char to track you, without your permission. Btags require you allowing contact and don’t let anyone pester you in game.
Switch this forum, like all the other Blizz forums, to a Btag format would resolve those things, mostly. Or force them to use separate Btags with new accounts/payments to get around it.
Nobody is saying your char identity would be erased. But it would be sub to your main Btag. The example above is what I would love to see.
So, stop saying this is about linking forum suspensions to game suspensions it is not.
It is about having ONE posting persona with everything linked at that level.
See the point in my post about reducing false reporting? With Btag you get 5 flags per day per Bnet account. It greatly reduces people char hopping to false report on multiple chars.

The rules already state people that troll report can be banned.
Having one profile is no different than any other forum on the net. They can just ban people who false report.
go back and read the thread you came into the middle of a conversation and it was all explained
- Your Bnet account is NOT private information. It is a name you select.
- Your Bnet account prevents anyone from messaging you without your permission
- Your Bnet account prevents people fro adding you in game without your permission and messaging without your permission.
EVERY other Blizzard forum posts by Btag and there are not major stalking and harassment issues.
You have total control of who can talk to you on Bnet unlike in game.

every damn time and every single time I explain the issue and you ignore.
I still think that just making it so classic posters and low level characters can’t post is a superior solution to trolling than enabling harassment.
If you don’t want your own words to have the potential to be used against you later, be careful what you post.

I did read the thread but you and “one other person” have yet to actually explain this strange position “you both” seem to have that somehow doing all of this would make stalker and harassment worse. And that somehow to really stop it we need to ban people from seeing parts of the forum.

I answered your concern. Your Bnet ID tag is more secure than posting by name-server. Your Bnet ID is under your control. NObody can talk to you on it. IF they switch to it on the forums, you could Ignore anyone and you would not see their posting. They would not be able to alt hop to avoid Ignore.
What some people want is to be able to continue using alts to create drama and avoid accountability. That is the bottom line.
10 years of posting on one char in colored text. Having one identity on the forums, like all the other Blizzard forums, won’t hurt you.

useless solution - people claimed making it a requirement to be level 10 on this forum would solve trolling - you have max level characters trolling so setting those limits means nothing
no you didn’t - you weren’t even in the same ballpark. Every single one of these threads you advocate for bnet and I explain my concerns with it and I have to repeat myself over and over again with you. Just not doing it again - you can read the entire thread if you want as well.
