like i said why tie it to your battle tag if it wasnt to ban you in game?
Forum account would be like all other Blizz games. 5 flags a day not 250 if you have max toons created. No sockpuppeting, no circumventing being blocked by changing characters, iâm sure others have more
Accountability on posting. Really that simple.
Itâs literally spelled out for you in the OP. Trolling was only 1 small part of it.
Also why would they need to do this to ban you ingame?
nothing that they cant do now there is no reason for the forums to be tied to your battle tag unless they want to ban you in game for a forum post.
Youâre being obtuse.
Are they going to improve proactive moderation?
Again, Blizz can already do that. They already know your accounts that are tied to your battle tag.
Kind of like Vinny and the Jets er I mean alts
Oh do tellâŚ
they could make trust lvl account wide right now if they wanted to - the beta id tag allows that. You donât have to change to bnet battle tag to fix that.
Since we are talking about abuse cases, If you can prevent people from seeing any thread you create, you can conspire with a group to exclude a group of players from being able to voice their opinion on a certain topic.
They literally cannot.
One person suggested having forum suspensions mirrored in game. That is not what the OP suggested nor did most of the rest of us.
Otherwise, there are a TON of reasons to have the Btag linked to posting - and all the other Blizzard forums post by Btag.
- Changing your char name, transferring, etc makes you start over with post count, trust level, etc. Other Blizzard forums donât have this issue because they use Btags.
- Flags and likes are per character, not Btag (this is not how the rest of the forums work) and it allows people to abuse the reporting system. Yes, some get penalized, but it is rare. Abuse of reports is common.
- People sock puppeting to self promote, to argue with themselves, cause drama, etc.
- People switching alts to circumvent the Ignore features.
- Posting char name-server means people can message you in game without your permission, and add you a friend on that char to track you, without your permission. Btags require you allowing contact and donât let anyone pester you in game.
Switch this forum, like all the other Blizz forums, to a Btag format would resolve those things, mostly. Or force them to use separate Btags with new accounts/payments to get around it.
Nobody is saying your char identity would be erased. But it would be sub to your main Btag. The example above is what I would love to see.
so then there is no point to convert the forums to your battle tag unless they want to ban you in game.
that makes no sense - how would a person know they were on ignore unless you told them
they already have it in place
Zandrae wants it to be if you block someone they canât see your post either.
Proactive moderation implies they act BEFORE someone does something. No. They should not punish people for things they have not done.
They already can if they want.
