Controller for WoW

Button combinations aren’t the only concern. Turn speed can’t be much quicker than keyboard turning, and swapping targets quickly and accurately are also concerns with controllers.

yea idk how controller players can claim they’re just as fast as non-controller players.

i can move my mouse a lot faster with a lot more accuracy than a controller can.

There is a reason a heavy majority of competitive FPS games are played with keyboard and mouse.

You should see how fast you can turn with a thumb ball mouse

Except this isn’t an FPS game, you are aware the addon has sensitivity to adjust your turn speed right?

The both of you are wrong.

Did either of you try the addon out before having these takes? Lol. Gonna assume no.

Quickly and accurately targetting enemies that need to be targetted is analogous to an FPS game.

I used a trackball for ages. ms explorer trackball. it was the best. then they stopped making it and I was so sad.

what is this one?

Umm no?

People who play WoW at a high level use macros, do FPS players use them?

lol no, I don’t need to go through the hassle of setting up a controller to know that it simply is not as fast.

there’s no way you can use the joystick to move the cursor across the screen as fast as you can with a mouse.

I mean, I’m not in any way saying no one should do it, just that it isn’t my preference because I don’t think it’s better. but you do you.

Excellent, so you don’t know what you’re talking about.

:joy:

I wish. ESO, FFXIV, etc, all have proved controllers are 100% viable for MMORPGs. I can’t play FFXIV without a controller…its too good.

You can turn pretty danged fast with a middle-ball style trackball like the Gameball and CST L-Trac too.

FFXIV was the reason I invested in playing WoW with a controller.

It’s silly a game like GW2 can’t be bothered to add it in despite being simpler in terms of skills

FFXIV has a 20 second GCD to compensate for controller use and ESO only allows an individual player to use 4 abilities. I don’t want either of these in WoW.

Here’s the amazing thing about the game champ, they don’t need to. They just need to add in proper support.

I mean, it’s fine. If they ever introduce it I just hope controller players get a little icon next to their name so I know to not invite them to my groups, is all.

2.5 seconds to be exact, but even then it doesn’t change much. Some classes have as many skills as wow does, and controller works fine. It would also just be an option for people who want to enjoy that.

Seeing how they were willing to merge cross faction for dungeons, don’t hold your breath on that if it was to happen.

I use a logitech mmo mouse. Was about 45$ USD. Redragon makes a similar one now I think. I have one of their regular gaming mice and it’s very good. I used to use razer naga. Left it at my ex’s years ago tho and they stopped making it. Prefer the logitech. I’d get that unless you have mobility issues, it’ll work better.

Theres a couple of keypad mappers and addons.

Someone I know engineered controller support onto Diablo 3 because of wrist problems. Basically you wait for input as mouse input and have mapped 1:1 mouse to keyboard w/length of buttonpress corresponding to mouse movement in the x/y plane w/constant polling. Or something like that. It was some workaround used the windows api. If the interface dev team reads this that’d prob make the WoW one work better. Using their code is slower for some reason I forget and Diablo didn’t have controller support.

Chording works better than whats being used now in that addon. Also the GCD kinda baffles me. IDK where thats coming from.

How does it not change much? It changes the entire pace of the game. Hard pass. The game already feels sluggish enough without haste, we don’t need an extra second added to the GCD sweepers.
