As of this morning a critical bug is affecting the Controlled Destruction talent for Fire mages, making the spec obscenely weak in single/low target scenarios.
It was previously bugged and provided 50% amp to Ignite, which was scheduled for a fix in the anniversary patch down to 25% (but we’d get compensations elsewhere for single target), HOWEVER AS OF THIS MORNING IT IS PROVIDING ONLY A 5% AMP, and this was not stated in any hotfix, it can’t even be seen in spelldata!
It’s also kind of wild that (1) this talent contributes so much damage (we really need a direct pyro buff…) and (2) this is getting set to 25% (down from the bugged 50%) on top of a 3% nerf to overall damage. The only real buffs I’m seeing come the patch are to Frostfury and Living Bomb, so I’m failing to see the offsetting ST buffs here…
As of Tuesday (10/08/24). Yeah it’s ~35% hit to Ignite damage which with 25-30% of our damage previously being Ignite is about a 10% overall nerf. What’s worse is that, from what I understand, even though the wording does not suggest it, the Ignites spread off the target with Controlled Destruction retain the boosted damage. So, this is a huge nerf to Ignite spread AoE as well.
Seems like a very simple coding error that should be easy enough to fix. Question is whether or not it’s a priority for them and whether they even know about it.
