Continuation of New Customisation Options for: Void Elves, Blood Elves, & misc high elves

Omg Reno, how in the name of God did I NOT kept it civil there?

I´m sorry, but calling stuff for their name is NOT being “rude”. The draenei pally would do wonders to NOT being classified in a well known forum trope with toxic connotations if instead of quoting wrong lore that demeans Horde races and being stubborn over it (you know, like MHP do) he would actually point his actual worries over the “muh ubber holy Belf theme”, casue you know, I actually kinda get his point.

It´s a very valid one when he feels the petitions can be harmful for the identity of the LF draenei race.

Well you see when you post this:

It’s akin to someone saying: Just ignore him, he’s a troll.

Cause he´s acting like one. After several people several times say your lore is wrong, you don´t just simply ignore it to further your headcanon that casually makes the race you dislike being portrayed as evil crooks.

I´m of the hard knocks school Reno, maybe if the poster puts his worries in a more blunt concize matter instead of quoting wrong lore by several years as an excuse, then he can be taken seriously. Cause his behavior screams he´s not even taking himself seriously, ffs.

Two wrongs don’t make a right.

Rise above it.

After Blood Elf skin tones going to Void Elves I have lost sympathy for him. People want to explore light themes for Blood Elves, which are already present and not just in gold glowing eyes. Now that Blood Elves are effectively a neutral race people want to explore themes which will help differentiate them from their Alliance counterparts, who have an additional void theme.

To be fair, saying mana tap, an ability that is specifically classified in the arcane school of magic is a fel ability is pretty troll like. But I’ll give the benefit of the doubt.

There’s a correct way to go about things tho.

People have also been exploring fel themes, which after TBC have less relevence to their story than light. Otherwise there is several undead options. All of which are worth looking into, but after losing their distinctness they should gain something to return a little of it.

I´m not his mother Reno. I just talked to him in “his language”. Maybe then he may be tempted to act “above it” as you put it.

Well true, but this doesn´t mean his concerns are not valid. I myself even while a massive Belf fanrgirl and lore junkie, hate the implication Belves are just about holy cause I perceive it as a disgraceful botching of the actual ritch Belf lore. Belves are much more than the 5 min screentime of Liadrin.

Troll like is putting it nicely. Specially after not one but SEVERAL poster corrected him. And let me tell you, this wasn´t the first time, this already happened in the old thread.

Yup. And people used it -now and weeks ago in the old thread-. And what was the result? Notyhing, he still uses the same toxic behaviour of always.

Ergo we need a new approach to the “problem”. Maybe talking to him in the same language (works with the devs after all…)

Idk, I actually dislike the idea of “global themes”; seems like reducing the race to only one aspect of their culture. It´s the reason why Velves were so reductive before getting the pink skins -they could only7 be associated with Void, reductive AF-.

I rather get stuff that can be useful to represent ALL the political / cultural aspects of the race.

That’s an implication only you are making. People are looking at additional themes, not replacing existing ones.

I disagree, I think homogenizing them with Blood Elves is reductive to them both.

Me too?

What the hell went wrong with Nightborne allied race  They had the entire formula right there!!! D:

They were running around everywhere. All of Suramar was an example.

Exactly! I was really astonished to see what the Horde ended up getting. Those were NOT the Nightborne that we saw.

Bad artistic choices. They applied lines to the face to try and give them more detail, as NPC nightborne are too “smooth” facially and it creates an unrealistic appearance.
Unfortunately, because of how “dark” and long the lines are, it gives them an appearance of age and emaciation in the worst of ways.
They also botched the proportions of their bodies for the males, and made no effort to the females beyond slight proportion differences.

Literally, Blizzard quality.

look at that pretty mana hair on the suramar nb . you can see it in the side profile of the npc model, especially along the bottom tips of her hair and it shimmers and animates, and moves/sways.

since i’m not allowed to talk to her, i’ll tell you that she doesnt like any of the suggestions on rialius list, except runes and…hairstyles, i think. so she doesnt want light based fx, jewelry, dark ranger, san’layn, felblood or any other race adjacent stuff.

Surely you can’t expect a small indie company like Blizz to emulate things 1:1 completely.

they used nelf model as their base texture, instead of nb npcs textures and then just used the nb skeleton for everything but the face. so the eyes are nelf-ish not nb-ish. etc. probably so they could match their emotes. cause nelfs make alot of facial bone expressions that the nb npcs likely dont.

That is where they went wrong! They should just went Nightborne instead of trying to make them Nelfs! They were amazing as they were!
