Project 1999 is still going strong a decade later.
You’re never, ever getting that.
you said it right there, the established server. There will ALWAYS be a hardcore player base on each server. It’s a double edged sword, it can be a good thing, but possibly do “more harm” to the server. Look at how certain items have dropped in price, while certain other items are rising. Since players know what’s coming, compared to not knowing the content, not knowing is more “Healthier” compared to knowing. The life expectancy goes down because you “Know what it is and what’s coming”. Compared to not knowing.
seems to be working fine to me… /shrug
I’m still playing, and so is most of my guild. Org is still a lag-fest on Tuesdays due to all the people picking up Ony/Nef buffs before clearing BWL/MC. Been playing AB all weekend and never had a queue longer than about 20 mins. There seems to be lots of people online at all hours of the day and night.
How is this game dying again?
If Blizzard creates a new server called “Will Reset” for you private server refugees, I would have no problem with it. You guys can build your character up to watch it die over and over.
I want my characters to be right where I leave them when Shadowlands drops. So I can pick up where I left off and carry on. Be it a year, two, or if Shadowlands carries on the dumpster fire trend BfA set, I can come back in a month or two.
If Blizzard wipes clean the progress I have made in this progress driven game, I wouldn’t restart. I would find a new playground.
We all progress at different speeds, it’s the progress that matters, not the speed you consume it.
The people you are putting down are the sole reason you have classic to play. FYI.
Don’t think for a second that if pservers didn’t exist blizzard would make wow classic.
Your are indirectly correct.
Blizzard made Classic to protect their IP from theft by pirate servers and the people who played on them.
Their thievery did not make them heroes.
You just contradicted yourself.
The fact that they did make pservers, made blizzard launch classic, which gave me and millions more a stable game to play.
Their sacrifice enabled us, they are thus, heroes.
A. No.
B. A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
If you only knew the hundreds of times the wall of No was posted in the general forums. But you couldn’t, you had to have a sub to see it back then.
How arrogant of you to think private servers were the soul reason for Classic.
Amusing to think you actually believe blizzard would have done this if it wasn’t to protect copyrights.
When has blizzard ever listened to forums? I know you’re new here, but blizzard only has forums because it’s industry standard, they don’t actually give a rat what you want.
Your honor, the thief that broke into Blizzard’s house and stole their money forced them to hire security guards, which has made all of us safer. My client is a hero for contributing to the safety of the realm!
You come from a private server, and I’m new here, laughable. The point that flew right over ya head is there was a sizable outcry from the Retail player base for Vanilla. It’s been going on here since Wrath.
We’re they a factor in the decision, I’m sure they were, however Private servers weren’t the soul reason.
The pedestal pserver players put themselves on grows bigger every day.
p1999 has 3k ish players tops… worldwide… thats not “going strong” and blizz isnt gonna keep classic alive for 3k subs lol
yes all the progression servers are fun and make people happy, ive played almost all of them, that doesnt change the fact that when content stops, people stop playing
There are classic servers that would kill to have 3k players.
Uh, you haven’t been paying attention have you. It hasn’t been officially announced, but it’s basically all but guaranteed.
You obviously never played private servers.
- mobs react as intended on classic
- All quests i have seen work
- Blizzard has yet to work with gold sellers
- Blizzard has yet to “spawn” r14 characters and sell them
- Blizzard has yet to be caught selling drop guarantees from raids (i.e. pay for both bindings to 100% drop in MC on one run)
I can keep going.
I loved pservers when they were needed. Now blizzard is willing to give us what we wanted so they arent needed anymore other than a way to play for free - which = stealing.
Actually Blizz prior to release said they are ok if only tens of people play Classic. This was made to protect their IP, whether it thrives or not with longevity is just a bonus.
You think you do, but you don’t.
If servers do fail- Blizz rejoices and cheers that their customers are bored with their product because it proves them right, and that matters far more to them than customer enjoyment.
They take that to the shareholders, drop any chance of TBC classic- and go back to making what they love; low effort remakes that don’t even try to deliver like WC 3 Refunded, mobile games that’ll make them billions, and Sylvanas fan fiction.
