Pve and pvp are not working well with this classes design and it needs a rework.
If anything please give us SOMETHING to help with being beat down and unable to cast almost anything in arena or dots needs to be MUCH more impactful if thats all were intended to get off in an arena while dh dk warrior pally and monks can get clean full rotations in on me. Spriest FEELS like a pve spec and even then shadow word death and mindgames are INCREDIBLY underwhelming at least when other classes are designed with pve in mind they can walk into an arena and execute their rotation and maintain uptime with their kit while mine barely functions.

It’s funny, in classic, Shadow was basically only PvP spec as the lack of mana regen and massive threat generation made PvE a struggle.
Then throughout the years and expansions. Shadow was slowly getting the tools and changes to be more effective in PvE and for a while, it was getting updates to its toolkit that added more for PvP capability as well.
What seems to have occurred is that with each new expansion, the focus was ever more in the direction of PvE and PvP was either sidelined and forgotten or outright removed altogether.
That’s why Shadow essentially has the capability of Wrath of the Lich King expansion levels of PvP toolkit as most of our toolkit has been removed or reduced in functionality or effectiveness due to competing against other classes and the new features they have obtained to counter or negate our capabilities entirely.
I think the best moment in time that struck the closest balance for both PvP and PvE was somewhere during Cataclysm-MoP-WoD era with a bit more leaning into WoD as we had both Spectral Guise as a defensive way to avoid being trained and tunneled into as well as Clarity of Power to have a low cooldown and instant cast Mind Blast that still dealt meaningful chunky damage as well as pumping up Mind Spike and Shadow Word: Death damage for more quick burst situations which most PvP falls into.
After WoD, Shadow got radically changed with the Legion revamp and we lost so much PvP capabilities that we still do not have access to today.
That’s what I think what happened anyway.

Yeah idk how we went from WoD spriest to legion all for the sake of a stupid artifact weapon causing an entire spec rework. WoD spriest had the BEST kit spriest had ever seen and i miss it more and more every day.
