I’ve been playing WoW with no issue for the last few months, but ever since I upgraded my PC a week ago, I’ve had numerous disconnections in Classic. I’m sure that all my drivers are up-to-date, I’ve reset and flushed my DNS, I tried removing out of date add-ons, nothing is working to solve this issue.
The biggest mystery us that this is an inconsistent issue. Sometimes I get back to back disconnections, I can’t stay online for more than a minute. Other times, I can play for hours with no problem. It’s giving me a lot of stress and making group play really hard.
I’ve seen people with similar issues reporting this, with no solutions that have worked for me thus far. Is there anything I can do to solve this, or do I just need to give up on WoW?

I don’t think previous posts would be related to your issue because you said:
Probably something on the new PC, either bloatware that came installed with it or the network interface card (NIC). Only way to check is to look through your Windows Event Viewer logs under system logs and see what’s reporting a disconnect.
Thanks for the reply! Here are my logs from just this morning, where I experienced at few disconnects during normal questing:

Hey friend - I was having a similar issue after updating my internet provider. I did everything you did. I had my internet provider out here three times telling me it was a WoW issue and that there was nothing on their end.
As a last request, we had them upgrade all of our cabling to Cat6 (from Cat5) and I haven’t had an issue since. It is worth a shot.

Thanks for the reply! Were you having issues with other parts of your internet as well? Or was it just WoW? I’m just trying to see how similar our situations might be.
Try switching to a different DNS in Windows and also make sure Ethernet and WiFi aren’t enabled at the same time (Windows is very bad at managing the two).
I was only having an issue with WoW nothing else. All other video games devices played fine on the new internet. I have three kids - we run VR, playstations, and our computers all at the same time. Only WoW was disconnecting.
We hardwired my husband’s computer - still dropped
I ran wifi at the same time - still dropped.
We found one cable that was a few feet long that actually would impact both the hardwire and wifi computers. Had him change that and we haven’t had an issue since.
We made our internet provider change out all Cat5 cables in the house, which he happily did since he just ran it along side the old cable then pulled the Cat5.
No issues with any other internet. I love our new fiber line. Fast and now this is fixed, I am beyond happy.

I just got back from Holiday break. Thanks for keeping the advice coming. I’ll try switching my DNS. Would my PC think that my VPN is an enabled Ethernet on top of my WiFi? I don’t have an Ethernet connection to my PC so it shouldn’t be overlapping unless the VPN is confusing it.
Are you using the VPN while trying to play? Because that would be the most obvious cause of the disconnections.
Im having the same issue of constantly getting disconnected by the same error, and this is with no lag as far as im aware, im pretty much able to relog back in in seconds once the game kicks me (usually freezes everything in place for some seconds when it happens and then i get kicked)
Gonna try that Ethernet/Wifi thing you mentioned cause i did had both enabled it seems.
My VPN is split tunneling to exclude WoW. So it’s running in the background but not for the game, as I understand it. Though I have had this issue even when the VPN is off.
I changed my DNS to Cloudflare today and still had the 51900319 error disconnects multiple times. I downloaded WinMTR so I can share my reports from that but I’m not quite sure which host I should log. What info from there can I provide you with more information?
Blizzard doesn’t provide the server IPs to the public anymore, so you could find a host near Las Vegas or Chicago and run it to that, but I can’t provide a specific one.
If you disable the VPN in network settings — not just turning it off in its own app — it still happens?
I’m using Mullvad. When I disconnect from the VPN, it doesn’t appear as a network adapter anymore. I can try staying connected then disabling it, but I can confirm, it happens even when I shut it off. I had a multi-hour (~3) long session today with no disconnects until just now, then I got two back to back. My second disconnect kicked me out of the Battle Net Launcher with a BLZBNTBGS80000023 error code. All the while, the internet connection has been stable for everything else.
I don’t think it’s my ISP because I actually switched providers today from Xfinity to ATT Fiber. I thought my long session meant my issues were over after the switch, but the problem has come back again. I wish I could test with a hard line to my PC but my router is too far away.
Don’t know if it will help, but it’s worth a shot. I was experiencing disconnects in caves, dungeons, etc. I did the following and it helped. Game settings, Graphics settings, scroll down to max foreground FPS. If it is unchecked, it may be causing an error. Check the box and set the FPS slider to your monitor’s maximum refresh rate.
I appreciate you sharing this tip! It unfortunately didn’t fix the issue, still getting random disconnects. It’s all very discouraging and making me feel less invested in the game. I hope the update next week fixes this issue.
This seems relevant, but it wasn’t multiple DCs, I got the 591000319 error trying to start the hallowfall quest where you get on the skiff to kill shadows.
I re-logged and it started normally.
The only thing that is different from other quests was the NPC doubles as a flight master .
Did you find a resolution? I am having the exact same experience.
Actually, what Elocin said about Ethernet and Wifi being enabled at the same time is what worked for me.
Once i disabled one, my DCs became significantly less frequent and even rare now.

That’s also a vehicle quest, which is where i often get dc’d. Those quests where I get in a vehicle are about 98% of my disconnects.
Hi Elocin. So I did some digging in old posts and used the Wayback Machine to read the old Blizzard support articles that have been taken down. I found the IP address for the US Central server, where I’m most likely pinging to. Would that a safe bet to run some tests?
The address I found is 24.105.62.129 (US Central)
