Constant update

Is there any way I can have the game downloaded and not have to update every hour? My battle net keeps telling me there are updates for the game every hour or so and wont let me play until I do that update. My game files are on a external drive.

You can launch the game directly, or close battlenet once it’s launched.

This sounds like something is wrong with your install, though. That shouldn’t be happening.

I have the same issue, but it’s usually ready to go after 30 seconds to a minute. It tries to ‘reclaim space’ after but doesn’t interfere with actually playing. It’s also on an SD card.

I assume it’s an issue with having to take a bit to get the data from the card to the device itself. It’s a handheld PC but doesn’t have a SSD which is unfortunate. I’ll upgrade it when it’s more prudent to do so.

I tried what I could to fix it, but since it’s not really causing any issues I’m not all that worried about it.

I never have this issue, what is wrong with your potatoes?

My machine does the exact same thing. It’s no biggie. Give it a minute, and it’s good to go. I usually make sure BattleNet is running, take a quick minute to check the daily news and/or email, then I’m ready to play!

If theres an update you cant play without current game, if you keep getting updates mean they are not installing

My friend has an external SSD on his mini that does this too, but after several months of multiple updates , the game has not indicated it is incompatible, which is the message he would get if it wasn’t updating at all.

There are separate mini garbage updates in addition to the legitimate big patches and updates, it is not that they are not completing.
The launcher says " updating " for maybe 30 secs and reverts to ‘play’ without installing anything of consequence.
If I had a guess, I would say his problem is the external hard drive has software on it like a little CMOS and launcher has to ask it for permission ( best explanation I can give for the connection delay , but not totally accurate) to update to that drive?
