Constant lag when engaging in Raid Bosses and Dungeons

Hello,

For the past couple weeks now, whenever I enter a instance, my Home and world ping are a constant 40 - 100, which is normal; however, once combat starts with a boss my ping jumps to a extremely high. This past night at raid night, it was extremely frustrating and almost impossible to get done efficently, as my ping kept jumping to 900 to even 4000 world. The below link was a snippet I sent to guild discord showing how outrageous my ping has been

https://imgur.com/a/L6SIPOq

Is there something going on on Blizzard’s end? Not very efficient for your GM and RL to be lagging every Saturday for raid night. I’m concerned this may bleed over to my Mythic Raid progression days.

Sounds like a misbehaving addon. Have you tried resetting the game to default and testing? Cut and paste the following folders to your desktop interface, WTF and cache . Then test the game

Good morning,

I did that and idled around Boralus and I’m looking at the World and Home ping spiking on their own still. I did’t do any dungeons, just sitting in town and right now, this is my latency: https://imgur.com/a/QY9Zlhn

Lets go ahead and run a winMTR

  1. Download WinMTR
  2. Extract the contents of the .zip file to your desktop.
  3. Open the WinMTR folder, then open the folder that matches your version of Windows (32-bit or 64-bit) and run WinMTR.exe.
  4. Enter the IP address you want to test in the Host field. Select a game from the dropdown below for a list of IP addresses.
Note : If multiple IPs are listed, run a WinMTR test for each IP address.
  5. Click Start , then launch the game you’re testing. If no connection issue is found in the first 5 minutes, restart the test.
  6. When a connection error occurs, play for at least 5 more minutes, then click Stop in WinMTR.
  7. Click " Export Text " and save the .txt file to your desktop. Name this file WinMTR.
  8. Open the file saved above select all copy and paste to this thread

The Americas

24.105.62.129 (US Central)
Oceania

Same exact thing happened to me last tues and wed night raiding. Kills your fps. I disabled every addon and went with stock UI for about 5 pulls on mythic ghuun and it still happened. From the looks of the tech support forums, this is happening and has been happening to a lot of people.

Good afternoon,

I fell asleep before I could do as you requested. I didn’t want to leave you hanging so here’s a little something from today. If this isn’t good, is it okay to use this thread and log when the latency starts getting high again?

EDIT: I think I messed up the formatting at the end trying to get another example in. If you scroll down in the box, I posted an example of my ping shooting up in a Kings Rest M+ run.

EDIT 2: I was looking at my second monitor while waiting for the heroic raid to start, when I looked at my lag bar and it said my Home was 44 and World was 4000. I was able to get some of it. I’ve edited it into the post.

I am posting on an alt to bump this as I’d like to get it resolved if possible. So, if my name gets tagged, please tag RaiColette-moonguard, the OP of this thread.

Here it goes again, doing the same thing. Now it’s consistently every night and time I login to WoW. I noticed this time that whoever “et-0-0-2-br02-swlv10.as57976 .net” is, I have a 80% Loss. Does ANYONE know what is causing this?

  • My ISP is Ritter Communications
  • I live in West Tennessee, close to Memphis
  • The issue has been progressively worse over the last few weeks now.

So in all of those you are losing packets right at your modem or router. In some of them it seems like that loss gets worse a couple hops later, but let’s focus on your router first.

I’d start by unplugging your modem and router for a minute and replugging. If that doesn’t help do you connect wirelessly? Can you test by connecting wired to see if that fixes it?

Good evening,

I’ve just power cycled the routers and modems and let the WinMTR run for 5 minutes. This is the output of it so far. The packet loss after “eqix-da1.blizzard .com” are hovering between 30 - 60% loss.

ritternet .com is most likely my ISP. I don’t know what ae1, et-0, et-1-67, and las-swlv are but that’s where the packet loss are at and my World ping, at the time of me typing this sentence is 770 ms.

I’m going to call Blizzard tomorrow when I get off from work. There’s no point in me trying to play the game or paying for a sub when the lattenacy is 1400 and not getting support.

I’ve gotten the Tier 2 and 3 Support of Ritter on the phone for the past few days now and they have done their side of the work. The issue is coming from Blizzard and I need to get either an answer or solution. I can’t be a GM when I’m lagging. I can’t RL when I can’t see what’s happening. There’s no point in retaining a subscription when I can’t even play.

4 weeks of lag that’s progressively gotten worse to the point where I can’t play is too long.

You seem to have issues from the very beginning of your trace. Which just get worse the farther down you go. You have 2 percent loss throughout if you notice the last hop only has 2 percent loss that indicates the hops above it are just busy and not responding to ICMP request. but is does show that the loss at the beginning is in fact propagating through the trace.

Have had a very similar issue that started overt the last few weeks. Doesn’t happen all the time, but tends to pretty much act like a switch when I enter combat for the first time in a dungeon or raid. Will sometimes go away after I drop group and join a different one, but generally is there to stay for the next few hours. There doesn’t seem to be a certain time it can happen, ever since it started have had it happen at just about any time of day. Last night on ghuun rekill, I started a lead for lockout, got people inside, and passed lead to gm. Everything was fine, killed ghuun no problems. After, everyone zoned and gm reset instance to kill first few bosses, as they were late the prior night dip hadn’t killed them on their lockout yet. That’s when i quickly recorded this video after the first couple pulls and the lag got worse each fight, but only once the boss was pulled, didn’t seem to be any or very minimal on the tentacles before taloc.

Edit: Apparently I can’t put links to videos in posts now even though I did last night? Maybe because now it’s from phone? Idfk anymore, but this sh!t is really getting old blizzard. You’re one of the last p2p games or there and more sh!t seems to break everyday. If it weren’t for guildies, is have likely left shortly after bfa launch, and if the current problem remains and keeps getting worse even that won’t keep me here, since the game literally becomes unplayable when the problem starts.

back on pc again and apparently links work now. Anyway, above video is from trying to kill taloc after everything ran smooth on ghuun just prior. All we did was hearth out > instance reset > zone in > game = f#cked.

This happens to me too. When I login, sometimes there’s no lattency at all, excluding the past 2 days now. Once combat starts with a raid, I go from 57ms to 2k+. It ruined my run with the guild I run M Uldir for with, as I had to drop.

When dungeons start, I go from 57ms to 158 - 400ms spikes. Usually it’s a consistent 270ms when I run dungeons. Which has put my M+ runs on hold and I’m falling behind on the io leaderboard.

I’m pretty sure a 2 - 5% loss isn’t going to cause a 3000k ms on world. Maybe 140, which is fine to me, that’s kind of normal but 200+ has issues and 600+ is unplayable.

There’s something going on once the packets hit Blizzard’s network. I’ll still work the ISP but they’re saying it’s not them and it’s Blizzard.

It actually can make that much difference. Especially in a raid with a lot of data being sent; The more data being sent the more effect it is going to have on the game. In reality there should be zero loss in your trace if the network is functioning correctly.

same here tried router reset , renaming cache interface and wtf, updated graphic card driver, disabled all addons, i have great fps until battle then standing still. pls help
