Constant crashes

Hi

My game keeps crashing. I’ve turned all addons off and it’s still doing it. at this point I can play for about 30 seconds before it crashes again. I have no idea how to go about diagnosing what is going on, any help would be appreciated.

this is the error I get

sometimes it throws up the wow crash screen, sometimes it just quietly closes the game with no notification or anything.

Notoriously unstable cpu.

You need to update bios and turn the max boost down.

Lots of resources to see once you google intel 13th gen instability

would replacing the CPU solve my problem? that’s not off the table. what would be recommended to swap to?

Is max boost a setting in-game or in the bios?

I don’t think it’s the CPU. Mine is doing the same and only started doing it in the last week and this is the ONLY game it’s happening on. I regularly play D4 and BG3 and have had no issues with max graphics.

Top article is basic steps to take, bottom article is the most recent update.

Thank you! I’ve updated my bios to the version that says it addresses the problem. hopefully this resolves it for me. I’ll know when I’m able to log in again.

really appreciate the help.

Whether THIS cpu is unstable is up for debate. This person should take steps (first repairing game files with Blizzard app) to fix the file system with DISM, SFC, and CHKDISK. And if that fails, to clean reinstall windows by deleting the partitions on C. If the same issue persists, MAYBE its the cpu.

I have run both the blizz repair tool, and the windows tool that checks for memory issues. both came back clear.

I haven’t done a clean reinstall but the computer was a clean build a little under a year ago. I could certainly run the other scans if they’re called for. won’t hurt anything and might help anyways.

The PTR is giving those error too just by flying and checking my gear then i get that error and i have a AMD hope it doesn’t go live like that i would not be able to play wow

Is your firmware up to date on that NVMe?

Anything else crash you at all? Event Viewer indicate anything?

I don’t know how to check that

No, but I don’t do much else other than browse the internet and play minecraft lately. Minecraft doesn’t crash for what that’s worth.

The only errors I see in event viewer from yesterday when I was crashing all the time is below. there are three or four of them, not nearly as many error entries as I had crashes

good news! I don’t know what specifically fixed the problem because I did a bunch of scans as Gravitön suggested, and I updated my bios firmware as Zungar suggested, but now I’ve been playing all evening with no crashes, even running two clients/accounts to increase the load.

crash free.

thank you everyone for the help and suggestions!
