Constant Battle.net Updates and errors

I hope someone or a Blue can help me with this issue that’s been ongoing for years. Battle.net always seems to perform an update whenever I close a game. If I close and reopen Battle.net, it constantly wants to update games that don’t actually need updates.

Now, I’m also getting errors saying the game installation can’t be found. On top of that, my games occasionally crash, something that hasn’t happened to me since the vanilla days.

This situation is incredibly frustrating, especially with the long updates every time I relog a game. I’ve tried everything:

  • Reinstalling Battle.net in the same location as the games.
  • Installing it on different drives, including the main C drive where Windows is.
  • Completely uninstalling and reinstalling both Battle.net and the games.

Despite all this, the constant updates and errors persist. Please, I need this to stop. It’s becoming unbearable.

I’ve had this problem ever since I started playing the game again last year. Retail, Classic, and Hearthstone are CONSTANTLY telling me I need to update. A clean install did nothing to rectify this. Every time I open the Battle.net launcher, all 3 of those games are doing the little circle spin telling me I need to update. Every. Single. Time.

Did you make a new admin account or reinstall Windows? Just sounds like permissions for the overall account installing software are corrupted.

How/where would one check something like that?

The only way to check is to make a new account or reinstall. There is no tool for checking.
