Constant 200ms

Hello. I have 200 ms baseline while playing wow but 6 ms while playing. Fortnite and war zone. Was wondering why it’s only wow that I get major issues on. Thanks!

Different parts of the internet.

You could post a winMTR, but without more information, there’s nothing we can do to help or provide answers.

yeah i get 50 to 80 ping playing other games but in wow its 250-300 im pretty sure its normal

Hey Boltgodx,

Like Zungar mentioned, a MTR test could help us identify possible problems:

  1. Download WinMTR
  2. Unzip the file to your desktop
  3. Run the WinMTR as Admin
  4. Type 24.105.62.129 in “host” for US or 103.4.115.248 for Australia
  5. Click “Start” and open the game. Let the MTR test run for at least 10 minutes to capture this issue occurring.
  6. Click “Copy text to clipboard”
  7. Type two sets of four squiggly lines and then paste the contents of the WinMTR test between: ~~~~ Paste WinMTR Test Results Here ~~~~

Note: If it’s not letting you post, break links by adding a space before .com/.net, so you can post them. You can also upload the MTR contents through Pastebin and post the link (ex: Pastebin (dot) com/123456).

I generally get between 18ms and 30ms playing WoW, so while 250-300 is not unheard of (and can be quite common in some regions, like ANZ), it certainly indicates a slowing somewhere along OP’s connection.

Been having really bad lag issues in dungeons and in visions, pretty much any activity hoping you can help with this , I ran a MTR and posted above

Hey there Dalvador,

Thank you for taking the time to run the WinMTR test. The test shows 9-11% packet loss which appears to begin at your modem or your ISP’s first node:

| DeviceDHCP.Home - 0 | 1080 | 1080 | 0 | 1 | 15 | 0 |
| No response from host - 100 | 219 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 172.16.1.49 - 11:warning: | 779 | 701 | 7 | 12 |

The test shows no problems on the first hop which is the connection from your computer to your router or modem. That “No response from host” on the second hop could be due to a network-level security or firewall restriction–which could be causing the packet loss affecting all subsequent hops–but unfortunately we’re unable to see if there’s any real packet loss occurring there due to the No response.

With that in mind, this would be an issue to bring up to your ISP as they may need to run some diagnostic tests on your modem or router and/or temporarily replace the device to determine what is causing the packet loss. Keep in mind that you can request to speak with a “level 2 or level 3 technician” when contacting the ISP, as the front-line representatives typically only have access to basic diagnostics and troubleshooting tools. In addition, I encourage forwarding the WinMTR data to whomever you speak with when contacting the ISP, because if they’re able to interpret the data, this may enable them to diagnose and resolve the issue more quickly.

I hope this helps get you back to playing smoothly!

Hey Boltgodx,

Thanks for providing that WinMTR test data. The test here shows 3% packet loss beginning from the first ‘hop’ and persisting through all subsequent hops:

192.168.1.1 - 3:warning: | 408 | 397 | 0 | 2 | 16 | 1 |

This first hop is the connection from your computer to the router or modem (depending on which device you’re connecting to). Packet loss on the first hop in the test is relatively common to see with WiFi connections, so if you are using WiFi, try testing a direct connection to the router or modem via ethernet cable. Note that we do not directly support wireless connections. If you find that WiFi is the problem, you can contact the support team for the WiFi device or the wireless router.

If you continue to experience the packet loss & problems in-game – or if a wired connection isn’t an option – this would be an issue to bring up to your ISP, as they may need to run some diagnostic tests on your modem or router and/or temporarily replace the device to determine what is causing the packet loss.

I hope that this information has provided further insight into the situation and helps get things fixed up so you can get back to playing as normal!
