I’ve been experiencing a 2 to 5+ second lag each time I press my abilities or try to loot an item. During this lag period, I can still move my charater around, but the abilities are only cast at the end of the delay.
I was levelling an alt today in Chromie Time in Draenor. Playing on US-Stormrage, in warmode. My ping (both home and world) remain stable at 100ms (I play from Europe), so I’m not sure what’s causing this issue. This is constantly happening today (around two-thirds of the time I’m casting abilities it’s like this). The last time I played with no issues was yesterday. I’m not sure if this is a server issue, or if it’s got anything to do with the Nvidia drivers issue?
Has anyone experienced a similar issue, or has a fix for this?
If your home/world latency is normal and you’re seeing large delays like this, the best thing to do first would be to test to see if it’s a world server issue.
Ask in the zone General Chat to see if anyone else is experiencing the same delays
Go to a different zone, like a low level zone for example, and test abilities/looting to see if the delay goes away.
Toggling war mode on / off and returning to the zone may help. If it’s on then turn it off, or vice versa.
If the problem is only happening in one specific zone make sure to include that information in your report so we can check it out.
thank you for the quick response. I tried out your advice and here’s how it went:
I started the day on my main. Played in Bastion and Oribos, did arenas. No such lag issues whatsoever.
I switched to my alt, which was in Draenor. The same ability/loot lag occurred. I turned off War Mode and went to kill some mobs near Goldshire. No such lag occured. I returned to Draenor, and the lag was still happening, just less frequently and for a shorter period each time. I turned on War Mode and returned to Draenor again, and it still lagged.
I asked in zone chat and got 2 responses (one from Madoran server and one from Kel’thuzard server). Both confirmed that they were lagging too. First person said “Gorgrond has the fastest levelling, but worst lag”. Second person said it lagged “24/7” and suggested it was because there were so many bots here.
I was advised by the first person to leave Gorgrond and go to Talador. We both left Gorgrond for Talador, and both became lag free. (not in same party)
It would appear the lag issue only occurs in Gorgrond, Draenor. Both in war mode and without.
There may be a new issue happening that is causing lag in this zone specifically. We will need to gather some additional details in order to pass along to our server team. If possible, provide a WinMTR test so we can gather more information?

Here’s my WinMTR. I wasn’t sure what my server IP was so I just used the US Central one since I play on Stormrage (EST). I did this test while playing in Gorgrond, Draenor. It didn’t feel as bad as before, but the lag was still occuring.
The WinMTR shows a bit of a latency spike to the router (323ms on that first line), but that may have just been a hiccup.
Based on what you are describing though this does sound like a world server issue, and we’ve seen some other reports of zone lag in Gorgrond as well. We will be looking into it and trying to verify when its happening so the server team can get it cleared up.

Both Tichondrius and Kil’jaeden servers are experiencing massive instance server lag regularly, and this has been ongoing for weeks now. Is there any way we can have this looked into?
If there is lag again tomorrow night during our raid I’ll have a few of our raiders provide the same logging above, but honestly just ask any raiding guild from either of these two servers and I’m certain they will confirm they’ve had the same issue.
