/console ffxGlow 0 setting not saved on logout

For some reason ever since the patch, this setting is no longer saved when logging out. Is this a bug or is it deliberate? The effect hurts my eyes and sometimes gives me headaches so I can’t play with it on.

same. Blizz, please consider these fullscreen glow/blur/bloom effects an accessibility issue.

I’ve also had it reset across zone lines (like hearthing) and after cut scenes.

Close the game, open Config.wtf
add the line SET ffxGlow "0"
should stay, if it changes you can try setting the file to read only

I did that before making the post; it’s listed as ‘0’ in the file. I’ve added it to a macro for the time being so that I won’t have to think about it in-game, but fixing the problem likely is a simple one at their end.

I already thought of that. That line was already in the file. No effect.

Same issue. Text file value set to 0, but for some reason the game doesn’t read it. Hopefully it’s not intentional or it’s tied to something else they actually want to fix. Maybe there’s another settings cache file with it? But I went through all the others I could see and didn’t find anything. :pensive:

Same issue. I’ve tried changing the config file to 1, then setting it in game. Changing it to 1 then back to 0. Etc. But keeps reverting.

I’ve been disabling this since it was a toggle in-game (which IMHO it should still be). Can get around it with a macro every time I login, but for sure seems bugged.

Sorry to say that patch 9.0.2 has not fixed this issue. Guess I’d better dig out my old macro from the last time this happened. (Honestly why doesn’t Blizzard either have it off by default or outright deleted…)

I had a guildie who’s good with addon programming write me one that turns it off upon login.

Weeks later and still no dice. I think the cvar should be moved up the priority list because the glow effect can affect people’s health. On at least one occasion where I forgot to turn ffglow back off (I was in an area where it wasn’t as noticeable), I wound up with a headache and some nausea.

Please Blizzard, either remove the ffxglow cvar entirely or fix the toggle.

Was this ever fixed? I now have an addon that auto-turns it off on login so I wouldn’t know.

Yes, it was fixed a couple weeks ago after maintenance.
