So Blizz GM support suggested I post this in the tech support forums. I ran a search and couldn’t find anything on the particular issue I am seeing.
At least once per gaming session any computer in my house that is connected to battle.net disconnects, and we get booted to the WoW login screen (we usually only play in the evenings). It is also platform independent as it is happening on both MacOS and Windows, and happens at the same time to both my wife and I. There are two accounts that are connected (my wife’s and mine).
There isn’t any rhyme or reason to the time of day, length of play time (I’ve kept a tally, there is no correlation to time or length of play time before disconnect), or what we are doing in game. This is also affecting only battle.net, I have had no issues with other distribution, streaming, gaming services, or even the small server in my basement that hosts a few different game servers for friends and family.
I have turned off firewalls on all machines, turned on upnp on the router, and even manually opened ports for battlenet and WoW and it has made no difference. The only thing is this all started when we switched to GFiber a couple months back. We didn’t have the issues with Centurylink fiber. Has anyone else seen any reports of this issue happening specifically with GFiber customers? They even came out over the weekend and changed the hardware out and it is still happening.
I could not find anything through searching the support page or the forums mentioning the specific issue I am seeing. Please let me know if there is something else I can try on my end.
It gets a little hairy sometimes when it happens, as I tank and my wife heals. We may or may not have been responsible for wiping a raid the other night during a disconnect, as well as bricking a key or two due to DCs.
