So my specs are as follows: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6-Core Processor 3.70 GHz, 16GB installed RAM
I was running consistent 60+ FPS in War Within, and now I’m at consistent 10-20 FPS with expansion. Couldn’t even do a dungeon it was that bad. Is something wrong here? or are my specs just that out of date?
Ryzen 7 5700 with a RTX 3060 here. 16GB ram.
I get 60+ FPS most of the time so far with settings on max.
I dont know how my set up compares to yours though
With nvidia you may want an older more stable driver, so its also possible an auto driver update bricked your card for WoW. I would google which driver is best for 3060 and download it off the nvidia website.
Its not that old of a card but not exactly a powerhouse, if you’re playing in 1080 or 1440 it should run no probllem. I upgraded to a 6950xt and love that I haven’t had to deal with these driver issues. On older nvidia cards you want to find a stable driver and lock it, disable auto updates.
This sounds weird but I had a friend try to help me and it achieved zilch. So I told ChatGPT my issues and specifically where I was struggling.
I gave it my specs etc and it helped me get my fps up lmaooo.. then it helped me optimize my wow settings so I could see important mechanics but not the extra fancy details. My fps increased from around 15 to 50 in dungeons lol
So update, my computer completely shut off on me for the first time while playing. To me it sounds like it’s a power supply or fan issue now. I did notice the fan wasn’t as loud as usual, so i’m wondering if there was some sort of failure there.
So yea….what a mess. But regardless, I had no issues before I started playing midnight…
That’s what I figured. The level of decline in performance from last expansion to this can’t be down to simply increased minimum spec requirements from blizzard.
Not saying that this is it but back in BFA there was part of one of the zones where my frame rate would go from like 150 maybe down to like 12 lol
It had something to do with the bugginess of the game. They did get it fixed but very curious.
And it wasn’t even a big area it was just one small area in drustvar
Sometimes hard to figure out if it’s the game causing the problem or your internet connection or something on your gaming rig
That’s got me wondering if you’re having it overheating issue because that can cause some lag if you’re CPU starts throttling because it’s overheating
I had a older video card that didn’t have a fan on it and when it would overheat it would seriously affect the game. Looked like lag… It would start throttling trying to get the temperature down
Really shocked to see people with only 16gb of system memory these days. I mean Windows alone eats a lot of it.
Me I run a Ryzen 7 7700X with 32 GB of DDR5, AMD RX 9060 XT with 16GB of memory. As much as your systems memory and I run at 60 FPS or better all the time at max settings and at a resolution of 3440 x 1440. (Ultra-Wide Screen)
Yeah I haven’t found any reason to upgrade the memory. The game runs just fine. I’ve actually got no problem running the game even when I’ve got a browser open with like 16 tabs lol
The only time my game has a problem is if I’ve got wowhead open in the background. The game will start acting stupid and then if I look and close out the wowhead website the game straightens right up lol
I’m running Windows 11. Also, as someone earlier said my graphics card does have its own fan. It’s not spinning at the moment, but that’s because i’m not gaming. Gonna try to play for a moment and check to make sure its working.
Ow, Liolang you really need a ram upgrade. But thanks to AI that probably isn’t gonna be feasible right now.
I use a program called Fan Control that you can use to kick up the fan speeds on your video card. You can keep it running faster before it actually gets hot to keep ahead of it.
I’m going to toss out a list of things that I have had happen to me and I’ve seen others have issues with, just in case it helps anyone with their problems:
Addons are using too much memory and tanking your game.
Settings were randomly changed in your graphics settings.
I’ll tell you the best upgrade I ever made going from hard disk drive to SSD.
That was the most noticeable upgrade I have ever seen I’ve been building computers since the '90s and yeah different upgrades definitely help.
But that SSD swap made it feel like a whole new computer
