Perhaps it would make sense to add a ‘ranked queue’ to WSG with dota like MMR.
There is a disconnect between players starting their journey and seeking honor per hour and people trying to actually play WSG to win. With a huge amount of afk people as Era is becoming more popular again.
As a solo queue enjoyer it would be wonderful if there was a ranked queue with MMR so the matchmaking system could try to make games with more or less balanced teams and players that are of a similar mindset to actually play the game.
Players who just want HPH or people that just want to zug mid could get much more honor just queueing unranked.
The ranked queue would offer no different reward besides changing one’s MMR and the games would be quite a bit harder since players would be trying to win, but it would be real wsg.
Players can queue solo or as a group. The system would just try to make sure the sum team MMRs are similar. Players can queue for ranked / unranked at the same time and just enter whichever pops first (but maybe you get deserter for dodging ranked game since it would make it start 9 v 10).

No the regular queue should be ranked by default. There absolutely should not be 2 separate queues for a pvp player base that is already small. All BG’s should have been ranked from 2005. The premades would inevitably end up fighting other premades and solo queues would mostly be fighting other solo queues.
I would not mind, I think two queues and one single ranked ones both have advantages and disadvantages.
But either could improve on the current situation in which the matchmaking system is basically working against the creation of good games.

Okay, and your basis for it makes zero sense.
This isn’t cata, there are no rbgs. Doing that to classic would deem it a zero games per day mode.
Nothing needs to be done, people need to learn the battleground. The bg is 20 years old made of wood and people still don’t know wtf to do
Why tf would you rank anything in classic? There is no separate honor or gearing system besides what exists now

MMR systems rely on a thriving population contrary to popular belief because the pool of people seeking stark competition is slim.
And that game is built around an mmr system. Randoms want to just add it to wow for literally no reason
I don’t think you understand what I’m saying. Nothing changes in terms of queuing. You queue solo, you queue as group, it’s the same. There’s also only one queue. Just one. But it has a mmr. Literally nothing changes except you end up fighting opponents of a similar skill / gear level. There’s zero downside unless you only want to farm noobs.
It doesn’t matter if you put them all on the same q dude. There aren’t enough wsg games going on era. There was like what 6 games open last weekend? wtf! Do you think a “2400” team isn’t going to be immediately paired with a 1200 team when there’s 200 ppl playing?
Well I won’t be upset if nothing is done. But it kinda sucks that so many of the games are so uneven. I don’t enjoy stomping another team and I don’t enjoy being on a team with players who don’t have their monitors turned on.
The exact role of an MMR system is to improve the quality of games for all players.
So that players can queue into games with a reasonable assurance that the enemy team will have as similar skill level as possible.
People don’t need any ingame rewards - I would posit that whoever has the highest MMRs of their class (or of all players) will find that plenty reward in itself. And a leaderboard could easily be made.
6 games roughly sorted by a mmr is still infinitely better than zero mmr. Sure it’s not going to be accurate with only 6 games but it’s better than nothing. Once again, this is only a problem if you only goal is to farm noobs.
The MMR system doesn’t matter when wsg caps out at like 6-7 games open on average

Well if we just have ranked queue and normal queue (like dota) people can still do this and I’m fine with that.
If people can queue for both ranked / unranked and just take whichever pops first - it won’t even have a big impact on times that there is very low population.
Dude. You aren’t getting it. If there is only a pool of 6-7 games the mmr system will do absolutely nothing. This is how RBGs work too. Now if there were 700 games open, you might have an argument
Undergeared players are also more likely to queue up if they have an increased chance of fighting opponents similarly geared. Ultimately resulting in increased participation.
But it does - when two games end - the MMR system makes sure that the next two games will both be good. Whereas at the moment we are more likely to have two bad games than two good ones, especially because rankers dodge hard games.
It will put the 10 best players in one game, and the other 10 in another.
I played the entire weekend in “phase 1” gear and won most of my games. If o were to guess 65-70% solo queing
Because you are a good player, and your MMR would reflect that, and if you queue’d ranked - you would be more likely to end up with other players that play properly.
How will this system do that with 6 games open on average?
