This covenant choice having to have consequences is BS.
The only people who will deal with the consequence are people who like to raid and PVP and push keys.
Blizzard, you keep driving away people who enjoy and play wow in order to cater to a demographic that doesn’t even enjoy or play wow and only plays for 1st week of each patch release.
You can change your stance on covenants now. or you WILL change it latter in 9,1 or 9.2 and by then huge majority of players will have quit out of frustration.
Same as essences and corruption vendors.
I can’t for the life of me imagine what exactly Blizzard devs are thinking. You are so disconnected from your player base, do you even play your own game?
How much are you really willing to sacrifice people’s gameplay to force this “choices matter” BS? Seems like enough to drive away majority of your loyal players base, Rest of the player base will quit 2 weeks after launch anyways and come back for new patch and quit 2 weeks after again.
Perhaps Blizzard is getting bored of the majority of the player base following the meta created by the minority. Having fun used to be just about that: fun. Now people want to act like “choices shouldn’t matter” and I should be free to do/be what I want. And why is that? FOMO because players are afraid that if/when they make the wrong decision they’re going to be scrutinized by the player base.
I think it’s good that the developers are putting the RPG back into MMORPG for this expansion. I’m not going for world first and I’m probably not pushing +20 mythic runs so don’t need analytics or number crunching to dictate what I should do or not do in game. If I want to experience another covenant I’ll roll one on my alt or switch and deal with the consequences.
Based on some of the early stuff they had to completely remove from the game during alpha because it was so insane, I think a lot of people have to actually wonder that lol.
Hell, they just entered Beta and they still have no idea how to finish Rogues.
Having a restrictive system is only going to reinforce the meta.
Instead of casuals being able to have fun and change things up whenever they like - they’ll be more influenced down the “meta” path because of the restrictions.
But isnt that the standard practice these days? Push horrible systems until a third of the base quits then scramble about in a panicked frenzy trying to figure out who the joker was that came up with the horrible system in the first place and get them to fix it pronto?
This company has had over a decade and a half to ‘figure it out’
and here we all are anyway, lol.
If I couldnt get it down after 16 years…yeah…just pull the plug LMBO
By making choices in gameplay with a negative to changing it, it tends to shepherd people to pick what guides/ other people say to pick.
A player can’t really try out the option without setting themselves back.
Look at azerite, a portion of the playerbase probably toy around with different traits. But I’d wager the majority just picked what blood mallet said to pick because people didnt want to pay an increasing gold cost to swap around.
phhh…just go post on the Hunter forum saying you like SV with the Butchery talent, LMBO.
There will be NO individual thought in this game. ONE OF US, ONE OF US…
netdecking is the most boring, dimwitting type of game play imaginable.
some of my best magic the gathering decks are ones that I came up with myself.
One of them in particular nearly cant be beat and Ive had people literally stand up put their cards in their boxes in mid game and storm out of a room.
Its nothing you’d ever see on the web, Id think. Just one of those perfect storms of mechanics that you dont realize is happening until its far too late.
But that deck took some creativity.
Something that isnt allowed in THIS Game unless you want to be ridiculed from all sides.
