Consecration Mastery

Protection Paladin mastery requires us to be stationary. I’m aware that most of the player-base dislike such play-style and it’s understandable.
However, I genuinely enjoy being in a solid position as a tank and only for that reason picked up Paladin this season. It adds a different approach compare to other tanks, and while M+ environment doesn’t encourage such play style, feeling comfortable and timing every dungeon on 20+ have not been challenging.

I was wondering, if there are others who like how our tier-set and mastery work?

I love and have always loved feeling as an immovable fortress when I am tanking. Prot paladin is the most fun tank, the consecration gameplay works. I find that I am almost always able to use 100% of my empowered consecration and rarely have ti move away from it.

It’s fun until you have to move all the time and it feels like trash. Just let consecration do damage and then you’ll want to stand in it for the damage but don’t tie our survivability to it.

That’s an option for sure.

I feel like a compromise could be that its reapplied wherever you are on each tick for the 12 seconds.

If I were to compromise, which I’d rather just make consecration only damage because moving and positioning is a huge part of tanking in wow, would be make consecration like faeline stomp. You keep the buff for a set time after leaving your faeline.

That could work to but I feel this would remove from the fantasy some actually like.

I mean like the idea of it to, but then on the practical side it really just rub me the wrong way.
I think it has to do with the reality not matching the fantasy.

That’s how it should feel right?
But it’s baked into our basic survivability and since it’s tied to a rotational ability on a 4 sec CD, the effect is mandatory for us to survive but doesn’t convey the “I’m strong because I’m in it”.
Rather, its more like “I’m weaker than I should normally be because I’m not in consecration”.

Maybe if it was a proper defensive CD instead?
Consecration with about twice the size and on a 1min CD, reduce damage taken while in it by X%.
Truly embody the feeling of when I drop this down, you cannot touch me, this field is now under the dominion of the light and I’m its ally!
(And remove Eye of tyr I guess, I don’t really care about this particular defensive)

And then shift the mastery defensive power toward something else, maybe AS since it doesn’t interact with HP anymore?
And so Avenger shield defensive power could literally become an HP shield on yourself, kinda like the talent we have but now as part of the mastery mechanic instead.
You’re shielded by the light, perfect thematic fit no?

I really loved holy shield. Super high block + thorns damage.

Paladins are not stationary.

They get to shimmy around a tiny amount.
