Consecration has been removed from the spellbook, at least the base version of the spell. I had it on my action bars and noticed it has been replaced by the passive effect Consecrated Blade. There are a number of talents that will affect Consecration, but the actual baseline spell is gone. This is confusing to players if they don’t know what Consecration does, or are new to the class.
In retail?
I will add that this is new behavior as of today’s patch 11.0.2.
Same for me, it was a pain to get it on the action bar after the last retooling of the talent tree, now it is gone completely for my ret pally, just a passive that I did not ask for or want.
Why, Blizzard, why? I want my PB AoE Consecration back.
Agreed. Same as Tendric, and now it’s gone again.
same, kept trying to consecrate in pvp, it sucked
Also, paladin/retribution seems to designed now to attract unwanted adds with every spell or talent.
Consecration is a big part of my rotation. I hate this change.
Editted to add: After playing with this for a while, I hate it even more. Consecration is one of the signature pally moves. It signals when others can start attacking. I don’t feel like a pally without it.
Consecration helps keep adds rounded up in one spot. Now it’s an accidental proc that can aggro too many mobs in the area. In addition, Blade of Justice is a short-ranged attack (20 yards) which can be used to encourage mobs to run to the pally for melee, which means Consecration isn’t useful if it takes effect where the mob currently is. Whatever little time savings advantage it might provide by proc’ing automatically with Blade of Justice is more than outweighed by all the utility that’s been taken away by being able to use Consecration when & where it’s needed.
I literally just leveled up one alliance and was working on a Horde pally today and could not for the life of me find the consecration. This completely ruins the class. I guess I’ll shelve them both… Add this to the broken currency transfer and I’m not a happy camper.
As a ret pally, you get consecration at lvl 6. Then at lvl 11, its replaced with the passive consecrated blade. Would definitely prefer the freedom of having both or maybe consecrated blade as a toggle?
I’m also unhappy with this change. I want a CHOICE whether or not I am doing AOE damage or single target damage. Currently ret pally is forced to always be AOEing at all times.
Also consecration is such an iconic pally spell. I want to actually have a button for it so I can use it.
Posting your feedback in Bug Report will do nothing.
Your only option to get the message to the developers is to post in the appropriate forum, which for this case will be the Paladin forum.
At least Enhancement Shaman doesn’t have the same problem with Crash Lightning and Chain Lightning being passively tied to an attack and can be done manually.
Completely agree. I don’t know what the heck they were thinking. Pally was my main now I am not really going to want to play it and deal with it doing AoE when I don’t want AoE.
