Good evening,
Based on the recent blue post about sapphiron’s frost aura effectively clipping itself, I was wondering if this was somewhat also impacting the spell consecration.
The spell has an 8 second duration, but a 8 second cooldown as well, so it shouldn’t be possible to “clip” the spell, but when you look at logs and count ticks, you find that you will somewhat frequently get 7 ticks rather than the expected 8.
It is tough to see if these consecration ticks are being clipped or resisted, as we don’t get “resist” messages from consecration, the ticks just don’t happen.
What is problematic is that in raid scenarios I have found that greater than 20% of consecration ticks end up not happening, which shows that more than just spell miss ends up cutting into the count.
What I find interesting is the moments that the target momentarily drops the consecration hidden debuff and immediately reapplies it. That may be causing consecration to clip itself in a similar manner to what was going on with Sapphiron’s frost Aura.
Is it possible to look into this and let us know what’s going on here? It shouldn’t be possible to clip consecration at all given its cooldown/duration, and the fact that it may be happening mid consecration frequently on high level targets is concerning. Unfortunately, the lack of combat log events when consecration ticks are resisted vs. clipped to not occur makes this pretty hard to test on our end.
Thanks for reading!
