I’ve heard conflicting reports about whether consecrated Sharpening stones work with ranged attacks with the new ap changes, has anyone got any info from the ptr on this? Logically they shouldn’t work but not everything in wow is logical so /shrug
They have always worked with RAP
That is weird and inconsistent with how other sharpening stones work.
other sharpening stones add weapon damage on the weapon they are applied too and elementals add crit to melee weapons. Consecrated are the ONLY ones that give AP.
It doesn’t make logical sense that a sharpening stone on your melee weapon would affect your ranged one. I’d like to think that’s why they don’t work.
an elemental sharpening stone affects both weapon’s crit chance… A bow is a weapon and they are a weapon enhancement without the limits of “melee weapon” Why should weapon oil increase a rogue’s poison damage?
Elemental gives ranged crit? It specifically says melee. Or do you mean a stone on one gives your second melee weapon bonus crit?
one stone gives crit to both melee weapons
Comments on the wowhead article confirm it from 2006

You are using the stones to sharpen the arrowheads. Would be a pain to do it 3,600 times for a full quiver so it uses the weapons as a placeholder.
