Consecrated Sharpening Stone or Poison for Mutilate Rogue

Would an assassination Rogue use consecrated sharpening stones or poisons in Naxx for WoTLK?

Edit:

From what I understand the adamantite sharpening stones were used during TBC, but with the poisons now scaling with AP in WotLK would you want to:

  1. Double consecrated sharpening stones
  2. Consecrated sharpening main hand with deadly poison offhand
  3. Instant Poison main hand with deadly poison offhand

Have you read its description?

You ALWAYS want deadly on one hand and instant on the other hand due to how deadly works now (once at 5 stacks it procs the other poison). Poisons are busted in wotlk. Which hand you put which poisons on depends on a lot of things. Simonize (created the rogue spreadsheet sim) has a good writeup about it on his discord. Here is the non-detailed version:

Simonize’s 4 Easy Steps to Picking Assassination Weapons:

-You need at least one fast dagger, 1.3 or 1.4 speed. Pick your highest DPS fast dagger and put Deadly Poison on it.
-Your second dagger can be fast or slow. Pick your highest DPS dagger regardless of speed and put Instant Poison on it.
-For most bosses and other sustained same-target DPS situations, you typically want your Deadly Poison weapon in the mainhand. For short combats and most trash, you typically want your Instant Poison weapon in your mainhand.
-If your Instant Poison weapon is massively stronger than your Deadly Poison weapon, you may just leave the Instant Poison weapon in your mainhand all the time.

For the detailed version i suggest joining his discord and checking the wotlk-faq section.

For combat you just put deadly in your OH and instant on your MH.

In addition to what Mennarch posted above, those sharpening stones also have an item level limit on them which will make it so they’re not usable on the gear you’d get near or at 80. If you end up retaining your TBC weapons until Naxx it would be possible to use the stones on those but as assassination you have too much of your kit focused around poison effects to really make up for it with the AP from the stones.

Ah okay. The item levels on the gear all seemed to go away recently so I wasn’t sure how I’d determine if the stone was too low for the weapon.

Well, that answers the question. Ty all
