I have noticed on the forums lots of talks about there being unbalanced wins or massive losing streaks. I think one thing that frustrates me as a player is that the time/reward is not there. If you experience massive losses, there is literally no progression on your character (no, honor is not gear progression, for the sake of this argument I am talking about conquest). Is there not a way to reward the time spent? Even giving small amounts of conquest for losses, or maybe gradually increasing the amount of conquest you get when you finally DO win. It is very frustrating to spend an entire evening trying to get one win for epic/regular BG’s and have absolutely to show for it. There is a lot wrong with PvP right now, but there are plenty of other posts on class balance/horde & alliance balance etc. So I’m just throwing this topic out there! Not sure if it was addressed or mentioned yet.
This idea comes up every so often. The biggest argument against it is that once a BG goes south, people will just start saying to throw the game to get the quick conquest.
I kinda like the stacking buff to earned conquest on a win idea though. That’s an interesting take I haven’t seen presented before.
When a BG goes south a lot just throw it anyway to get it over faster. I would say rather then reward conquest for losses, it’s the daily bonus that’s driving everything.
I would change the daily bonus so that’s it’s “win 1 battleground or complete 3 battlegrounds”
If BG’s really are “almost even” as Blizzard says playing 3 battlegrounds should give you a win. If you play 3 and still don’t then you get the bonus completed either way.
I’d suggest something different: change the reward for subsequent wins so it’s worthwhile, say half the value of the first win, like it is for rated battlegrounds. That way, you can take advantage of winning streaks to balance your losing streaks.
Rewards are given to winners.
What about consolation prizes?
This is an interesting idea too. Would encourage players to complete the BG even if it doesn’t look good.
Blizzard hears you and will fill your bags with green ribbons.
I was forced to lvl a horde toon to pvp. I’ve lost so many BG’s for so long with nothing to show for my time on alliance, its either completely stop pvp’ing or enjoy playing by lvling a horde. this idea to get something is better then nothing and maybe I’d continue to play on my alliance toons. I’d prefer to stay alliance, but until things change, ill be pvping horde only.
currently my win % is 76% on horde
my win % on alliance is 24%
I use mongomon for my stats and it keeps track of that toons last 50 BG’s.
I’ve mentioned before they should let both sides merc instead of just one regardless of Q times.
Promise? And why green? What’s wrong with grey? No pun intended.
I couldn’t agree with the OP more. Absolutely asinine conquest system this xpac and it should be scrapped for 8.1.
Was there a problem with letting players win 10 ranked arena matches IN ONE SESSION to fulfill their conquest obligations for the week? Instead of this moronic system of having to win one of everything multiple nights a week?
So many hours wasted in 15+ minute queues to get obliterated by premade after premade, or to end up in a match that is already over when I enter it, or to end up on a team consisting of clueless idiots. Hours pass and I have nothing to show for it.
At the very least you should get one conquest point for every minute guarding a node, or one conquest point for every minute spent in the vicinity of a flag carrier, or one conquest point for every other objective-related act. This would actually give incentive to the masses of idiots queueing up to actually have to play objectives.
I want to PVP because it is fun, not because it is a chore and I have to collect one win in everything every night.
And then the icing on the cake…the “reward” at the end of this weekly mess is a piece of gear that is a downgrade to the piece I already have. Brilliant.
My mom still has a collection of my 4H participation ribbons. They were all green.
Rewarding a loss only breeds bad behavior in battlegrounds, like not working with the team towards the common goal. This was more frustrating to those of us who actually cared and even cheapened the experience in RBGs.
There’s something you can do right now to prevent the massive losing streaks you’re referring to. Get a group together.
Thats a fine suggestion if my experience with finding groups outside of the very few people i know that enjoy pvp wasn’t extremely unpleasant. I would rather queue and have my time speant mean something and show some progress. That might be why i read about such long queue times in one faction, the time/reward is simply not there for the other. And while rewarded loss may reward bad behavior, it wasn’t the only suggestion put forward. I am open to ideas in how to fix the current problem.
Get rid of merc mode so battleground chat isn’t so toxic and so that all of our team is actually on our side.
Do a lot of players use the merc mode? I’m genuinely curious, never even crossed my mind!
Someone posted a while back on a battleground he had checked. Something like a quarter of the people were mercs. Any wonder that we lose when so many of the people on our team aren’t really on our side?
Do some yolo RBGs… 150 for a win, up to 50 for a close loss…
Yea but those players who think like that, I’d rather they afk anyway, wouldn’t you?
I liked the fair. The chickens are majestic.
