Connecting from Vietnam

I’m in Vietnam and subscribed to wow Classic. My connection is bad this week and I’m having an odd problem trying to connect to my battlenet account via web browser. When I try to connect I get an error 500 unable to connect error from a blizzard web site. When I use Hoxx VPN I can connect to my bnet account through the US. Is it possible my IP address in Vietnam is being blocked by Blizzard?

I also can’t play the game the past two days, I get disconnected constantly, lag out constantly. The first 2-5 minutes are fine, then it lags out and stops responding until I close the game entirely and reopen it. Then I can play 2-5 minutes lag free and the cycle continues, over and over again. What would cause this, the game working okay when I first log in for a few minutes but my connection lagging out and disconnecting after 2-5 minutes every time?

I played a few days last week for hours every day with no problems. The problem started a couple days ago. Is it possible to play the game through a VPN? Maybe that would work considering I can’t connect to battlenet sometimes unless I use a VPN?

VPN usage is not restricted, but it is not something that we can help configure or troubleshoot if you run into issues using a VPN.

With that in mind, if a VPN solves the issues you’re experiencing, ultimately we can only recommend contacting the ISP for assistance determining what is causing the issue to occur on their network. They may adjust specific security/firewall settings on your modem or temporarily replace the device to narrow it down further. Keep in mind that you can request to speak with a “level 2 or level 3 technician” when contacting the ISP, as the front-line representatives typically only have access to basic diagnostics and troubleshooting tools.
