Connect to router via ethernet for Shadowlands

I am currently living in a rental where the router is located upstairs. Landlord will not allow me to connect via cable. Is WTFast a service that fixes an unstable connection? Are there other services like WTFast that stabilize a WiFi connection that is decent but will just not cut it for raids, etc. Sometimes I get disconnected from the game.

Do you have the option of both 5GHz or 2.4GHz connections? 5GHz is faster but will be impacted by proximity - so if you are further away, or have walls/floors in between, you could possibly experience degradation and/or disconnects. 2.4GHz is slower, but you should have a more solid connection further away.

I don’t have experience with WTFast, but it appears to be a VPN (if I found the company you were asking about) that has been branded as a ‘GPN’ (VPN for gamers). While a VPN could possibly help with things like routing issues, it is not going to help if you have an unstable connection with your router.

The other option would be to get another router to use as a range extender and put it somewhere in between your computer and the main router. Hopefully you would be able to find a spot where you could get a strong signal for both.

like You stated, a VPN will not fix your issue. There are several ways to improve your situation but first, what is your wi-fi adapter and which frequency is the network on that you are connecting to (2.4ghz or 5ghz)? If the owner doesn’t want you to mess with anything, using an old router in bridge mode can help or a new wi-fi adapter with a long antenna cable that you can bring closer to the main router.

Not really related but last week when Comcast was out, I used my Verizon phone to tether my PC and both my kids’ chrombooks streaming conferences (distance learning) and surprisingly playing WoW wasn’t THAT bad on it.

Yeah, when my FIOS was out I played using a mobile hotspot - it was more than adequate…

We have optimum!..so plenty of experience tethering my phone to PC’s and laptops and using it as a hot spot.

Lol - after a major storm I connected the router through my phone and we just went about our business until it was repaired. Not exactly zippy with multiple users, but it worked. Thank goodness for unlimited data!
