While not ideal you can always upgrade runed crest to gilded. It will be slow progress but progress the same.

This isn’t a useful argument since you could do the mythic raid at 619 as well.
The best players don’t need a stat advantage so why reserve the best item level for them? The best players deserve titles and cosmetics the other players don’t have. They don’t need a stat advantage for any particular reason.

I do agree current upgrade system is still not perfect even after several seasons.
I could see M+8 being a hybrid crest drop key … 9 runed & 3 Gilded for timed and 4 & 1 for completion.
If players are farming Hero gear they’re just doing 7’s, getting an 8 is almost insta downgrade it to run it as a 7 again.
I’m currently sitting at 600 and it’s more than adequate for what I do in game.

And then the players only capable of doing 7’s and lower make forum posts about how they should drop at 7.
And the people only capable of doing 6’s and lower make forum posts about how they should drop at 6.
Until everyone gets a trophy and we’re just “all carrot, no stick.”

Not really. In Dragonflight season 1 we could do +18 to get a vault reward that was only 3 item levels lower than a +20. A +20 was only 3 item levels lower than the highest mythic raid gear. More people cared to progress to 20 in that season than people care to progress at all in this season.

If you want the upgrades you will do it if you cannot or will not do the content the higher tier drops from.
Harbinger of the Weathered Harbinger of the Weathered: Reach 593 item level in every armor slot.
Harbinger of the Carved Harbinger of the Carved: Reach 606 item level in every armor slot.
Harbinger of the RunedHarbinger of the Runed: Reach 619 item level in every armor slot
Harbinger of the Gilded Harbinger of the Gilded: Reach 639 item level in every armor slot.
It is not perfect but if you have the crest why not use them.

I need 650 ilvl because some of these raids bosses spam mechanics on you to the point where you can’t have an opener.
Do I wait for the mechanic and then do my opener? Do I start it and get cancelled mid opener by the mechanic then continue it? Do I do half of an opener, then finish it afterwards?
Cringe game play that doesn’t offer a pay off or feed back. If you delay your opener, then do it after the mechanic, it doesn’t translate to the damage meter, you’re still under the tanks.
Everyone sees you under the tanks and it’s GG because 98% of the player base doesn’t understand priority damage.

There was no shortage of complaining in dragonflight about the exact same thing.
Years of pursuing the forums have jaded me to any and all complaining. It’s just noise.
These forums aren’t for having discussions. They’re a vessel for disgruntled players to voice their frustrations about their own shortcomings, under the guise of external factors that don’t exist.

This is pretty confusing lol.
I don’t have 619 in all slots but I can get Runed Crests atm by spending 90 Carved Crests on it. 99% certain I’m reading something wrong.
You can convert carved crests up to runed because the game knows you have no way to spend carved crests anymore (all slots 606+). Converting runed up to gilded takes 619+ in all slots.
