This isnt my only character though lmao… I have several 120s, several others in the 100 range… Im going to ask for something worth my time and money, which does not include farming for something I already farmed.
Wouldnt playing a single game for 15 straight years be considered a success of a game?
As much as some people don’t want to admit it most people posting here are SUPER passionate about wow and want it to be better than it currently is. If nobody cared then we would have thousands of posts daily.
I just wish flying was treated the way it was from BC to MoP and be available at max level. Keep pathfinder but have it unlock flying as soon as you complete it.
I think we’d all like a bit of insight into that, mate.
I try to rationalise their decisions, the direction they take the game in, and for the life of me I can’t figure it out. Are they trying to create a Candy Crush version of it? Do they want it trimmed down so it can be played on consoles and/or phones? I can’t believe they are deliberately destroying it, because the old “goose that lays the golden egg” philosophy still works. No company will purposely mangle a profitable product. It can only be that they truly believe in what they are doing and think the largest % of players like what the game is now.
In the face of declining subscriptions, something has to happen to wake them up. Perhaps firing everyone in charge of game development and looking for people with vision, creative imagination and enthusiasm for the product might be a good first step.
Participation metrics are why they’re doing this now 3 expansions in. I’m not even sure they read the general forum anymore.
Put yourself in their position. You have data that millions of people do these fool world quests / dailies for months and then quit the game. They don’t do much anything else. Probably because they lack the time to do anything else.
The giant elephant in the room is something they can’t or haven’t seen historically. That funneling people into this mode of play restricted their time in doing the content they actually wanted to do and when they finished it left a sour taste in their mouth so they quit. That data doesn’t show up in their participation metrics.
In this case, it is called “conditioning”.
We players are no more than conditioned slaves.
My issue with the rep grind is I feel like it completely removes me from the game. The opposite of what I suspect was intended.
For instance, I loved Nazjatar and Mechagon at first, I loved the design, the dailies, I thought they were thoughtful, well scripted, loved all the characters (Yay Saffy!!), and had a great time exploring, etc. At first.
I go into a mode while grinding for pathfinder where the entire rest of the game goes outside of blinders, and I forget the rest of the world.
Now, it is back to feeling like a job, and anyone who says it is “fun” collecting a random junk around Nazjatar (arrghh… hate that daily) for the 20th time, or trying to charge a backpack that kills you in Mechagon for the 5th time this week is a liar.
When I do hop on an alt, it feels like a new game again, which is nice I guess.
Me personally, I am almost there (Mechagon rep goes stupid fast, even logging in an hour or so every other night). Just need 3k more Naz rep.
Look up Sunsetting.
Pathfinder has been the same since WoD; literally zero difference.
Your complaint is that Pathfinder is “bloated” content. Why are you jumping on the bandwagon now? We all knew the requirements before the expansion even dropped.
Seriously? Blasting mobs with my main essence is one of my favorite CDs at the moment.
20 hours of sheer boredom isn’t trivial, nor is doing it 1.5-2 hours per day
In the old days dailies took you to revered in two weeks of 15-20 minutes per day, or about 4-5 hours in extremely palatable small chunks
Why should we be bored for hours a day for anything in this game? Bad design using heavy handed tactics to retain players instead of providing a fun experience
I think we can agree to disagree then. Gold expenditure is nowhere near as important to me as a happy experience as I play.
pathfinder and the game currently sucks: 160 likes
The game is good: 29 likes
lmao
I don’t really mind to do Pathfinder, but i am annoyed that it is not released like a max of 3 months after launch.
But, honestly … would like it allot more if they spend the energy of setting up Pathfinder, that stupid Azerite System and that dum Essence System … and make actual enjoyable/playable content … and not just some passive crap i only do once … and/or is scrapped with the next Expansion.
But … that will stay a dream only … as Blizzard listens nowadays more to those Time Analysts then the actualy Playerbase that still sticks with the game.
I sometimes wonder if anyone at Blizzard actually plays the game and goes “wow this would be really fun”. The last time I genuinely had a lot of fun in this game was probably the secret mount from Legion. Other memorable things include the mage tower, everything in burning crusade, leveling in Legion, and the green fire and legendary quests in MoP.
Think about how much content there was in Vanilla and how much value and play time you got. Huge continents, complex systems; that was a lot of value for the money. Then compare it to what we got for BfA.
Don’t get me wrong, the point of an MMO is a high initial investment and a long product life (assuming it’s successful). It’s just they’ve been milking this same cow a long time. At this point they either need a significant investment in the title or it’s time for another cow. I suspect they’re not planning on any kind of significant investment, just wringing out the last few drops at this point.
I wasnt bored.
Because they’re paid to do what they do. That’s how they get away with what they do, and how you get into trouble for calling out how transparent they are.
They’re not even subtle about it…
I’ll just RUN around avoiding all mobs without doing half the quests and events they put in because I play this game for fun and not all of the game’s offerings are fun.
Smaller new world zones are GOOD?!? That’s kinda been something people have been complaining about, whether they like flying or not… It’s sheer laziness on Blizzard’s part to make the entire zone so small that it has to have settlement-level population of mobs throughout just to fit all the mobs they wanted to include.
I played Cata. I loved flying. I had game time throughout, and played throughout. I had friends who played then. There was always something to do, and it was FUN. I also heard people complaining that Mists had nothing to do, while I ran around and flew around and did what was fun.
Are you really sure ‘flying’ is the true source of your lessened fun with the game?
Apparently Ion pretty frequently reads these forums and sends threads with player feedback to the community managers to keep an eye on. So either he isn’t paying attention to the daily highly upvoted threads about people disliking where we’re at in terms of flying, or he just straight up doesn’t care and likes it how it is regardless of player feedback.
